Story
She is an exceptionally affectionate cat, will wait at the window when you leave, try to be next to or on your lap when you sit, and do her best to come with you through any doors you open. She will try to get more and more pets if you are not giving her enough attention and sometimes nip at you to get you to start petting her. This extended to our other cat and they would not cuddle for very long as she would nip him and he would run away not understanding she was looking for more grooming. She was great with an infant/toddler, always laying around him when he played on the floor and being pretty patient when he invaded her space. She is very food motivated. If the food bowl is empty and she is hungry while you are not in the room she will try to knock anything off of counters or shelves to get your attention and feed her. There is one bad habit she has, she confuses containers of fabric with the litter box. We kept clothes off the floor and didn't leave laundry hampers with clothes anywhere she could get to and had no more issues with that.

Story
Hello! My name is Alvina! I am a little Tabby cat looking for my forever home. I am quite shy but once I settle into a routine, I start to show my sassy personality! I have excellent manners, I never jump on the counters or knock anything off, my foster mom is really proud of me for developing such good habits! I have come out of my shell a lot recently and will tolerate pets and attention as long as there are yummy treats involved! I will not tolerate being picked up yet but over time with lots of patience that could change. I absolutely love having a routine, at my foster home everything happens around the same time everyday which has helped me relax! I am a bit chunky; I love food, but I am working on loosing weight! I recently found out that I have a food allergy but when it is well managed, I am a happy and healthy girl! I am quite a playful kitty, my favourite things to do are to chase my catnip mouse, play with my tail, scratch my cardboard scratching board, and fight the humidifier steam. I make my foster mom laugh constantly with the way I play around the house and with all of my grumpy facial expressions. A requirement at my future forever home is a safe place to hide when I am not in the mood to interact with anyone! Right now, I have a cat tree and that is my safe space! I am not aggressive just nervous, I have never purposely scratched or bitten anyone. When my foster mom initially comes into the room where I am, my first instinct is to hide but as soon as I realize I am not in any danger I come out and go back to whatever I was doing! I am a really special kitty and I am excited about the possibility of going to my forever home! I need a special kind of family with endless patience to teach me that I am safe and loved! I am not good with other animals and would need to be the only pet in the home! I need a special type of home but I promise you won't be disappointed that you chose to adopt me!

Sex: FemaleBreed: Domestic Short Hair* If Other, please specify :Colour/Pattern : Dilute CalicoDate of Birth (if known):My Foster Likes:: Purring, lots of pets, a big window to sit in. Loves to stretch big and long across the floor. Loves bugs, or anything that looks like i bug, and the laser light. Loves to explore! Laying on your chest and just purring away.My Foster Dislikes:: Waiting for her furrever home, being cooped up in one room at her foster momma's house... Not a huge fan of brushing or being carried, but will tolerate being craddled like a baby.My Foster's Ideal Home Would Have:: A home where she is the only cat, or a home with younger kittens as she does seem to do well with young ones. A house with lots of windows, lots of places to jump up to and climb!Good with cats?: NoGood with dogs?: UnknownGood with children?: UnknownWould this kitty enjoy an animal companion?: UnsureTemperament: NeedyIdeal type of household?: Medium activity, High activityHow long will it take kitty to settle into a new environment?: A few days, A few weeksAny special needs or traits the adopter should know about?: She will not tolerate foster momma's resident senior kitty, but seems to do very well with her kittens. May be a sign she does not do well with other adult female, or adult cats in general. But may take a liking to a younger kitten! She doesn't like wet food too much, rather she goes in phases of liking it and trying to bury it. She is full of trust, but you do need to earn it first. Once you have her trust, she is the loviest, sweetest girl i have ever met.Foster's bio for their adoption profile: I am around 2 years old, or at least the vet says i am. I was found on the street and befriended my foster mom after a few weeks. When she found me, i was pregnant! But she took me in anyways and had me in a quarantine room until i gave birth to 6 babies! They are a handful, but i handle them with ease. When i had my babies, it was quite an experience... I just HAD to wait for my foster momma to come to my room so i could comfortably start the difficult process. And now, i even nurse on my momma's lap. I am full of trust, but you do need to earn it first... My last owners left me when they moved, so i will admit to some trust issues. I have no health concerns though!I love a good snuggle, and I love to play, i am very active! My favourite toys are the wand things my momma bought us! I love to jump up on anything, but i will get down the second you clap your hands and tell me to.

She was on a special diet, but seems to be doing okay on purina one adult now. As stated above, she is shy, but a very sweet girl.Foster cat's bio for their adoption profile: I am a beautiful, approximately one year old spayed cat. I like playing with toys, sitting in the window and sun tanning, and eating. I am shy with other cats and tend to hide from them. I have been with my foster for 2 months and have not adapted to the cats here, so it would be best if I was an only cat. I tolerate my fosters dog, but don't like some of the other dogs that come over, so a quieter friendly dog would probably be okay. I really am a sweet girl, I just prefer quieter spaces and would love to be considered if you meet this description :).

Story
This fierce momma cat protected her little family until we were able to bring them into our care. Even after she was safe and warm, that protection instinct never wavered. Although we will never know her story, we suspect that she had some time in a home as house noises have never bothered her. How she ended up on the mean streets of Saskatoon, we will never know. Now that her babies have all grown up, she gets to be the kitten she never had a chance to be! Laoch LOVES, LOVES to play!! She will spend hours chasing her favorite mouse, followed by down time looking out the window. Treats and catnip are her guilty pleasures!Laoch still doesn't trust 100%, but we are working on this and routine is helping to get there. She makes choices to be in rooms with us and no longer runs and hides when we walk into a room. We are not at the petting stage yet, but time and patience will help - starting to sneak touches in where we can. She isn't fearful of hands, just not trusting. This beautiful former momma needs a family that will give her the space she needs to get comfortable at the start and continue to work with her. Laoch may never be a lap kitty, but she may surprise you.Laoch has been introduced to other foster kittens and has done very well with them. She set and maintained her boundaries, but I have caught them snuggled up together (after a week). She has not met dogs, so that's still unknown. A family with older children with good cat manners would be best. She does provide warnings - growls, slinking away - before she swats with paws (mostly without claws, but sometimes they are out). The good outweighs the bad with this lovely momma!! Do you have the time and patience to give her a chance to truly shine? I know that she will be an awesome loving girl given the opportunity!

My Foster Likes:: Windows, breeze, being outside supervised, catnip, boxes, napsMy Foster Dislikes:: being over-stimulated, loud noises or sudden movements, the vet, nail clipping My Foster's Ideal Home Would Have:: Lots of attention and play time in a quiet home with not a lot of staris.Good with cats?: NoGood with dogs?: NoGood with children?: Yes, but only older, Yes, but must be quiet and understanding, ToleratesWould this kitty enjoy an animal companion?: NoTemperament: Mix of needy and independentIdeal type of household?: Low activityHow long will it take kitty to settle into a new environment?: A few monthsAny special needs or traits the adopter should know about? : Chickpea was born with club foot, As a result she has a lengthy medical history. She had an amputation in December of 2022 where they removed one of her back legs to give her more mobility. Although she is more mobile she still does not walk on all three paws. She has a lot of strength in her two front legs and drags her back leg. This has caused her to have a curvature in her back and tension in her lower back and gets laser treatments done once to twice a month at Orchard Veterinary clinic. In order for her to have pain management adopters must be prepared to continue her pain management routine. At her current vet clinic she gets chiropractic treatments which are around $70 and Laser which is $40 a treatment. Additionally Chickpea receives 3 medications a day which must be spaced out (AM/PM) and an additional medication once a week to relieve stiffness. Most medications are compounded through the University as she only takes liquid medications ( Fluoxetine, Gabapenton and Metacam). Chickpea requires carped stairs in order to go up and down or preferably a bungalow home. She is unable to jump up on surfaces so needs assistance getting on to beds and couches. Her current fosters have created custom stairs so she can sit on the window ledge and on her cat tree. As chickpea has limited mobility she requires a custom litterbox with either pine or newspaper pellets- clumping litter sticks to her and is problematic for her and her fosters. As chickpea primarily uses her two front legs she is on a particular diet to manage her weight for maximum mobility.Foster cat's bio for their adoption profile: Chickpea is a loving girl who loves to go on her harness in the summer and watch the birds and the flowers move in the wind. She is also a very loyal companion, she enjoys spending time with her fosters while they cook and do laundry, she is their shadow. Unfortunately due to her mobility issues as a kitten she uses biting as her way of communication. She likes being held and loves to receive pets but when she is finished with attention she has a tendency to bite and be rough. Recently Chickpea had a foster sister in her home, she was very loving towards the kitten but when the kitten got big enough chickpea had a hard time getting away from the kitten and was frequently overpowered. She does not do well with older cats, she frequently visits the vet where they have resident cats and she gets very defensive and aggressive. Additionally she has to receive a higher dose of her Gabapenton on days when she visits the clinic so technicians and vets can handle her.Chickpea was born with club foot, As a result she has a lengthy medical history.
