Story
Zeus, Apollo & Athena are a little family who have been through quite a lot together—and we’ve learned that together is exactly where they belong. Their story began when we received a call about a mama cat who had been abandoned at a rental property near the lake with her two small kittens. We trapped the little family and quickly discovered that Athena needed help herself. She was wearing a collar that she had apparently tried to escape from, and as she grew, it had become embedded in her side. Athena went in for surgery right away. Thankfully, she recovered. Her two little boys, Apollo and Zeus, grew up at Revelation Gardens, eventually becoming considerably larger than their tiny mama. Don’t let the size difference fool you, though. Athena is still Mom—and she has no trouble reminding her sons who’s in charge. Athena also has a flair for the dramatic. She enjoys being picked up and loved on, but once you actually pick her up, she may squall and carry on as though you’ve committed a terrible offense. Don’t be fooled. She wanted to be picked up. That’s just Athena. The boys were adopted together once, but the home wasn’t the right fit. A few weeks later, we made the two-hour drive to Nashville to bring them home. And Zeus made sure the return trip was memorable. While riding in his carrier, Zeus was carrying on so much that we eventually let him out to settle down in the van. He promptly stepped onto the passenger-side controls and rolled down the window while we were traveling on the interstate. Zeus was standing right beside the open window. Everyone survived. The window went back up. Zeus was secured. And we learned an important lesson about allowing Zeus access to power windows. He’s still our adventurous one. Apollo’s journey has been different. He developed a form of epilepsy that caused him to self-mutilate his tail badly enough that amputation became necessary. His condition has not flared up since the surgery, and today Apollo sports an exceptionally cute little bobtail. More recently, we learned something else about him. Athena and Zeus spent some time at an off-site adoption center while Apollo remained at Revelation Gardens. They handled the change well. Apollo did not. Without his mama and brother, he struggled. Once Athena and Zeus came home, the family was reunited, and Apollo gradually began settling back into himself. That experience made the decision for us. Athena, Apollo and Zeus will stay together. Fortunately, whoever adopts this little family is getting three truly lovely cats. They’re sweet, affectionate and wonderfully mellow. They enjoy attention and companionship, but they’re also perfectly content relaxing together and enjoying an easy day. Athena is the tiny—and slightly dramatic—matriarch. Apollo is our sweet bobtailed boy. And Zeus is the adventurous one —who also happens to be such a handsome fellow that he became the kitty featured on one of our Revelation Gardens shirts. They’ve already had enough chapters in their lives where things changed around them. Their next chapter should be different. We’re looking for a home where Athena, Apollo and Zeus can remain the family they’ve always been—and where the car windows remain firmly locked. Athena is spayed, and Apollo and Zeus are neutered. All three are up to date on vaccinations. They aren’t simply three cats looking for a home. They’re a family looking for one together. August 31, 2026, 11:42 pm
