Story
Mon Ami and Maxine are 11-month-old siblings who are looking for a loving home together. We will only adopt them out as a pair. Mon Ami is a lively, affectionate boy who cheerfully asks his visitors for as much attention as he can get. His sister Maxine is a lovely, silky girl who likes to sit on a lap and be petted and stroked. They were rescued as young kittens from a feral cat colony in a neighboring town, and were socialized in a foster home before coming to the shelter. These beautiful kitties like to sit in windows to watch birds, they love to play with wand toys, and be cuddled by their humans.   They get along well with other gentle, young cats at the shelter. You can visit this bonded pair at Kingdom Animal Shelter on Saturdays from noon-3pm.Please note that Kingdom Animal Shelter is not a 'same day' adoption shelter. Pancake is a 2-month-old black kitten with an adorable white belly. She's a little on the shy side and will thrive best with a patient, gentle adopter who understands that she needs time to build confidence. Her foster family says she is inseparable from her brother Crepe, so if you're interested in adopting them both, that's even better! Pancake is going to grow into the sweetest companion with someone who'll give her the love and patience she deserves. Pancake is not spayed yet, her surgery scheduled for 8/5 and is covered with the adoption fee. She can be adopted before then, but needs to be brought back for her surgery.

Story
Strawberry Shortcake has a story that's as special as she is. This former stray was found in Colchester early this summer caring for her four young kittens. After raising her little family, it's finally her turn to find a home of her own. Strawberry was born with a congenital defect (grade 4 luxating patella) affecting her knees, which means she isn't able to jump onto high places like most cats and walks with crouched legs. Instead, she's adapted in her own remarkable way—using her strong front legs to pull herself up onto low windowsills, where she loves to quietly watch the world go by. She's what we lovingly call a "spirit cat." Rather than seeking attention, Strawberry prefers to observe her surroundings and take in life from a safe distance. She's an independent soul who will thrive with someone who understands that trust is earned over time and that companionship doesn't always mean being a lap cat. Strawberry would do best in a calm, structured home with a single person or a quiet couple. She may also do well with other respectful cats and possibly a gentle, cat-savvy dog who will give her the space she needs. Because of her mobility limitations, Strawberry must remain an indoor-only cat, as she would not be able to safely escape predators outdoors. With patience, consistency, and a peaceful environment, Strawberry Shortcake has every opportunity to blossom into the best version of herself. If you have room in your heart for a gentle soul who simply asks for understanding and a safe place to belong, Strawberry may be the perfect addition to your family.
