Scottie is a HUGE, precious boy who simply can't seem to catch a break! Scottie originally came into rescue as a kitten and was adopted. Through no fault of his own, he eventually returned to our care when his owner could no longer keep him for personal reasons. He was adopted again, but unfortunately, that home didn't work out either. One of the concerns in his previous home was inappropriate urination. However, we're happy to report that Scottie has been an absolute gentleman with his litter box habits in his foster home! He has been with his foster for a little over a month and has not once gone outside the box. His foster provides three litter boxes that are scooped daily, and he would likely do well with two appropriately sized boxes. After all, that big ol' booty needs room! We also had his bloodwork and urinalysis done to rule out underlying medical problems. We even checked for diabetes because of his urinary history and recent weight gain. His fructosamine (A1C) was within the normal range, although a little higher than we'd like, so keeping him on a good diet and limiting sugary treats is important. He is otherwise healthy, but his weight and diet should continue to be monitored. And now for the important stuff... Scottie is AWESOME! â¤ï¸ Scottie is a gentle, laid-back guy who loves attention. He isn't particularly vocal, but when it's time for his wet food, you'll hear that big purr! He'll rub against your legs and make sure you know he's ready for dinner. He also loves belly rubs, feather toys, and headbutting his people until they give him the attention he requested. He does well with other cats and has lived successfully with them in the past. In his foster home, he plays under the door with the resident cats and has been very respectful of his foster's older, grumpy girl. Even when she hisses and growls at him, Scottie simply backs away. He's truly a gentle giant. Scottie has also lived with a dog before and should do well with respectful children. His foster describes him as confident, silky, majestic, and incredibly sweet. He walks around with his tail held high like he's modeling for the Plus-Sized Feline Fashion Week! His beautiful coat stays remarkably clean and isn't especially prone to matting, but weekly brushing would be wonderful for him. Not only will it keep that gorgeous coat looking its best, but it's also a great way to bond with your new best friend. Scottie does need to lose a few pounds, but he's a larger-framed boy who doesn't overeat. A healthy diet, portion control, and plenty of playtime and exercise will help him get back to his best shape. Scottie at a glance: HUGE gentle giant Sweet, affectionate, and laid-back Loves belly rubs and attention Loves feather toys Headbutts for pets Gets along with other cats Has lived with a dog Would do well with children Excellent litter box habits in foster care Needs a large litter box Needs continued weight/diet monitoring Weekly brushing recommended Scottie has had more than his share of changes through absolutely no fault of his own. We would love nothing more than to see this big, beautiful boy finally find the family who will love him for life.
