Y’all ready for a little country charm? Meet Luke and Shania—two Catahoula Hound mix puppies with personalities as big as a honky-tonk anthem! At just 14 weeks old, this duo was rescued from the shelter and are now looking for their forever homes, where they can sing, dance (zoomies count as dancing), and steal your heart faster than a cowboy (or girl) at sunset.   Life with the Country Music Litter These pups wake up with the crack of dawn at 6:30 AM—because just like true country stars, they believe in early mornings and late-night singalongs. They’re still young, which means they’re working on making it through the night without an accident, but let’s be real—at this stage, they might still need a midnight potty break or a designated pee pad setup. Their meal schedule is breakfast at sunrise, lunch at 1 PM, and dinner at 7 PM—because even country pups know the importance of a good meal! To help these little stars get used to kennel time, it’s best to start with an hour of alone time before bedtime on their first night home. Don’t worry—they might grumble at first, but soon they’ll be snoozing like a tour bus full of tired musicians.   Meet the Band Luke - The Sweetheart Balladeer If country music has taught us anything, it’s that puppy-dog eyes can melt hearts—and Luke is living proof! This calm and cuddly boy loves nothing more than being held. Pick him up, and he’ll turn into a puddle in your arms, completely content to soak up all the love. Of the whole litter, Luke is the one most likely to want a furry sibling—he thrives on companionship and may struggle with being alone. If you’re looking for a devoted little shadow to follow you everywhere, Luke is your guy! Shania - The Cuddly Crooner From the Day this songbird tumbled off her tour bus, she has shown us what it means to ‘Feel Like A Woman’! She keeps her brother in line as she runs around the house with a toy in her mouth and a wag in her tail. While she is a bit more independent than her brother, when Shania is ready for cuddles she will let you know that you’re ‘Still The One’ for scratches behind her ears and puppy kisses! If you’re ready for a cuteness overload come meet our country cutie!      Adopting a Country Music Star Raising a puppy is a little like writing a country song—it takes patience, a little heartache (hello, potty training!), and a whole lot of love. These puppies are crate trained but still working on housetraining, teething, and learning not to bark at every new thing (because everything is exciting when you’re a puppy!). They’re looking for homes that will: Continue their training – Puppies need guidance to grow into well-mannered dogs. Give them love and structure – They’ve been through a lot but are eager to learn and trust. Keep them active – These puppies have energy to burn and will thrive with playtime and walks. Understand the hound spirit – Catahoula mixes are smart, loyal, and love a good adventure! If you’re ready to welcome one of these chart-topping pups into your home, get ready for cuddles, chaos, and the best love song of all—the one between a dog and their family.     Adopt a country star today—because every great journey starts with a wagging tail and a little twang! This litter is only an option for a home that has owned a dog in the last five years. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5March 21, 2025, 7:36 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereBring endless joy into your life with loyal, goofy, and affectionate Tugboat! This 4-year-old sweetheart is a soft and squishy Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who grins when he is excited to see you and is eager to match your energy. His favorite toy is any kind of ball, and he is adorably clumsy when trying to play fetch. You’ll know he is deep in sleep when his cheeks billow or his tongue pokes out of his mouth. What makes Tugboat a good fit for your home: Very quiet, nonreactive dog. He will chat with you while you’re playing, making the cutest awoos and yawns, but he is not a barker. Extremely friendly and gentle. At events or in big crowds, he just goes with the flow and soaks in the love. Polite around food, even though he is VERY food motivated. He might come for a sniff, or give you puppy eyes, but he does not counter surf or try to steal food and will stay in his bed while we are eating. Great apartment dog! Sure, he could love a backyard, but he is mellow and happy with just a couple of walks/potty breaks a day. He is fully housetrained, a dream on the leash, and leaves other people, dogs and critters alone (he might stop to watch, but he won’t pull). Sleeps through the night on his bed, and, if you let him up on your bed in the morning for a cuddle, you can even sleep in an extra few hours. Well-trained, nondestructive, and eager to please. While he is clever and likes to see if he can squeeze extra treats out of you, he always tries his best to understand what you’re asking. What makes your home a good fit for Tugboat: You want an adventure buddy, and/or people are often home. Tugboat is fantastic in the car and out in public, able to stay in his ‘place’ on the back seat or under the table, but he doesn’t like to be left alone. Even with steady progress increasing his confidence while he is away from people, it’s unlikely he will ever be happy being alone for a full work day. You are willing to learn a new ‘language’. Tugboat is deaf, though you might not notice right away, and is responsive to hand signals and attuned to body language. The hardest part for us has been that he doesn’t know, and will never know, how great his name is… He loves his routines, and will quietly ‘complain’ (sit and stare) if he feels like a meal is late or someone should be home by now but isn’t. If you have a structured routine, great! If you want one, he will keep you honest. If not, maybe you can find his complaints endearing and work out a compromise, he is adaptable. You like big dogs, and cuddling, but don’t want a big dog all over you all the time. Tugboat will lay next to you, put his head in your lap, or wiggle onto your chest for a quick kiss, but he prefers gentle contact over full-body cuddling. Tugboat is ready to bring love and joy into your life and will reward you with endless companionship! Story
WEIGHT: 55lbs Meet Sprinkles— She has had a tough go of it lately. Sprinkles came to us from a partner shelter where she was dropped off at their front gate in a wire crate. It`s terrible, we know. But honestly, to meet her, you wouldn`t know it. She is so outgoing, spunky, and playful. She is friendly with all people and has a really beautiful and unique look. She`s had mixed reviews of other dogs, so a home with other animals might work providing it was a good match. She`s high energy and would make a great adventure buddy for an active couple or young family. It doesn`t look like she has much experience doing normal dog things, so potential adopters should be prepared to take on some basic positive reinforcement training. Sprinkles recently spent some time in a foster home. Here is what they had to say about her:`Sprinkles is the most loving, cuddly and up for anything dog you can meet. She loves people and walks! She is well behaved, but consider puppy age, she can be a bit mischievous (shoe stealing and counter inspecting especially). She is super smart and eager to learn/please (I taught her enchanté - hand down and she gives you a paw like a high five but then she gives your hand a kiss), very treat/food motivated. A little bit of separation anxiety but I think if she were in a place long enough, she`d be okay, when she knows she`s home. Does well on lead, pulls when she sees something she wants or something that scares her. She`s a little timid about random things, the donkey statue in my backyard freaked her out and a kayak in the Harbor scared her, but she is easily comforted and not aggressive at all. We spent a lot of time outside so I can`t say 100% that she`s potty trained but that would be a very easy training. She`s extremely cuddly and wants to be with you. You can tell she`s been through a lot, but she doesn`t show it at all. She`s still got that mischievous puppy nature about her, and she would definitely make a great adventure companion for someone.`If you’d like to meet her, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
