Story
Ernie is a sweet and handsome Catahoula mix…approximately 3 years old. He prefers a tight schedule/feeding time, with naps in his crate (door open). Ernie does well with other dogs, and seems to do ok with cats. He is fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped. Ernie loves people, but prefers to hang out with men, and be their best buddy! He’s a sweet boy, and beautiful, as well! He is food motivated, so training works very well, with treats! ****Ernie is currently in foster care in Dallas/Fort Worth, so transport would need to be arranged.****

Story
Meet Tucker! He's a 6 month old mix breed pup, appears to be a bit heeler. He's a silly boy,   active and does  very well with all dogs, working on house training,  kennel trained, working on leash training and has shown no aggression.  Tucker is a people dog, loves to meet all humans showing you his happy face.   He will make a great running buddy once he has the leading down and would even do well in an obstacle course. He's a handsome boy and can't wait to meet you.  If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and complete an adoption application at www.elpasocountycanine.org/adopt ##2142552##

Meet Mr. Moose! This sweet boy came all the way to Colorado from Texas with his four other brothers looking for a new live and their forever homes! Moose is a riot! Never stops wiggling and is a happy go-lucky guy! Snack time is his favorite! Toys are awesome, but baths are the worst! This sweet guy loves cats, dogs, and kids as well and would make an excellent addition to any family! Mr. Moose is still working on potty training and basic commands, but is SO smart and eager to learn. With a little consistency in routine, this little guy will be ready to take on anything!  ##2131091##

Story
Meet Ocean, the brave and friendly puppy who is looking for her forever home! Ocean is a delightful bundle of joy with a heart as big as the ocean itself. This sweet pup has a playful spirit and a loving nature that will melt your heart. Ocean is a social butterfly who thrives on making new friends, both furry and stuffed! She adores playing with other dogs, wagging her tail with pure joy as she frolics and explores. Ocean's playful antics and friendly demeanor make her a beloved companion for pups of all shapes and sizes. When she's not busy engaging in playful romps with her canine pals, Ocean can be found cuddled up with her favorite stuffed animals, happily snuggling and giving them gentle kisses. Her tender and affectionate nature shines through in every interaction, making her the perfect cuddle buddy for cozy nights in. Ocean's bravery is truly inspiring, as she faces new adventures with a fearless spirit and an open heart. She approaches each day with a sense of wonder and curiosity, eager to explore the world around her and share her infectious joy with those she meets.   This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. She came in with a large abscess under her chin which has since been treated.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2131099##
