Story
Meet Columbo! This handsome Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull mix is a smart, energetic boy who’s ready to find his forever home. He’s crate trained, house trained, and loves to zoom around the yard before settling in for some quality playtime. Tug-of-war and fetch are his favorite games, and he already knows “sit” and “drop.” Columbo can be a little reserved at first, but once he warms up, his silly personality shines! He enjoys meeting new people, soaking up attention, and showing off his playful side. He’s looking for a home that will appreciate his smarts, energy, and affectionate nature. If you’re ready for an adventurous and fun-loving companion, Columbo just might be the perfect match! Columbo is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is being fostered at the moment so email adoptions@caspca.org and we can set you up with the foster family to coordinate a time to come in and see her!

Story
Sunrise Dawn is an energetic and affectionate pup, likely a Catahoula/Lab mix, known for her athleticism and unique spotted markings. She thrives on human interaction, loving to give hugs and kisses. We think she'd be great with kids; likes most other pups but should NOT be placed in a home with cats due to her strong prey drive. Ideal adopters will be patient and confident, providing her with ample exercise and a spacious yard to keep her happy and challenged! updated 03/19/25

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

Story
Meet Hermey – A Survivor with a Heart of Gold Hermey has every reason not to trust humans, yet he chooses love and kindness. This gentle soul came into our care after Fluvanna SPCA discovered he had survived an old ballistic injury—he had been shot in the neck and left to suffer. On top of that, he was severely malnourished, fighting for survival on his own. Despite everything he’s been through, Hermey has held onto his sweet and forgiving nature. Today, Hermey is stable and lives a normal life with just a few adjustments. Due to his past injury, he cannot wear collars around his neck and instead uses a harness for walks. But don’t let his history fool you—Hermey is just as ready for adventure and companionship as any other pup. He’s a bit nervous in new situations and may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’s the most affectionate snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. Hermey enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’d do best with another gentle companion. He hasn’t been officially cat-tested, but his foster does have chickens, so there’s potential for a home with cats. More than anything, Hermey deserves a family who will show him the love and security he never had before. He’s been through so much—now it’s time for his happily ever after. Could you be the one to give Hermey the safe and loving home he deserves?
