Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

This fun, outgoing, active girl is ready to work her way into your heart! Belle loves everything and everyone and will light up your life with her positive energy. We will be honest that sometimes her enthusiasm is excessive, so she needs someone who can reinforce good behavior so she doesn't jump or knock others over. For that reason we would prefer her to be in a home with no young children who live there all the time. She would be fine with kids visiting since she adores them, but she will need to get her initial excitement out first. Belle enjoys being on the go, riding in the car, meeting new people and exploring the world but she does settle when she is at home and is a perfect couch potato. She is good on leash when she is out and about and loves exploring. While Belle loves other dogs, we have found that she loves them a little too much and not all dogs love her enthusiasm for them. We are working on helping her learn how to regulate and channel her excitement so until that is better, we prefer that she lives as an only pet. No cats for the same reason. A fenced yard would be ideal and she is currently trained on an electric fence which she can be out on as long as you are monitoring her. Belle is a perfect medium size at about 45 lbs, and she is even more beautiful in person. She thrives with structure and training and LOVES to be with her people. As she is a coconut retriever from St. Thomas breed is only a guess.Age: Puppy @ 16 weeks oldWeight: currently 13lbs still growing best adult weight guess around 30lbs  Other Animals: Missy likes her foster siblings that range from 10lbs to 50lbs. The resident cat does not seem of any interest to her yet.Kids: has not met any yet but stay tuned for an update. House training: Work in progress but no accidents yet Exercise needs: Active puppy who will thrive on structure and training. She needs at minimum one to two good walks a day along with playing fetch in the house or yard. A tired puppy is a great puppy.What she's great at: Meeting new humans or dogs. Great at not acknowledging the resident cat. She is crate-trained and sleeps through the night.What she's working on:  Basic commands and potty training. Finding the dog that compliments her play style.Personality: Sweet but tenacious. Likes to lead rather than follow. She is ready to blaze her own path.Missy's Story:  She did not arrive to the shelter with her birth story but she is ready to let you write her future adventures.Dream Home:  : Missy is ready fo find that special home that can give her structure, exercise, training, and love. Story
Henry is one of the best dogs that you'll ever meet.  He is an 8 year old lab mix that comes from the beatuiful island of St. Thomas.  Henry had been adopted as a puppy and recently returned to the shelter.  He is 8 years old and heartworm positive.  He also has fatty tumors all over his body.  We've been told they are benign but will be having him evaluated.  Because of this he got dumped and would have died in the shelter if we hadn't come in to rescue him.   He has a beautiful soul and eyes that just look at you begging for love.  As he undergoes his heartworm treatment he needs to be kept calm and can only take very short leash walks so at this time he may be better as an only dog or another very calm dog.  He does seem to have a bit of prey drive so no other small animals in the home.  Once you meet him you'll fall in love.  If you think that you're the one that can give Henry the love he needs to live out his senior years, please fill out an application! ##2110684##
