Story
Rory is truly a piece of sunshine. She is loving, funny, gentle and loves to cuddle, loves to walk and she is potty trained, healthy, and she loves other dogs, she loves to play ball, she is great with children. This dog is truly perfection. When rescued her she was so scared at the shelter she was over weight her fur looked terrible and she set on the cement trembling. She deserves a loving home. Who ever is lucky enough to adopt her will be so lucky. You will love her from hello.

Story
Meet Apollo! A sweet and playful one-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix from Temecula, CA, whose heart is as big as his love for plush squeaky toys and surprise treasure stashes. Tricolor and tiny at just 13 pounds, Apollo may be small in size, but he’s packed with personality—from the tip of his twitchy nose to the wag of his excited tail! He’s a shy little guy when first meeting new people, but once he warms up, he becomes a goofy, affectionate companion who’s happiest when surrounded by canine pals. In fact, playing chase with other dogs is one of his all-time favorite games! He’s currently thriving in foster care, snuggling with his furry housemates, chewing on his favorite bones, and stashing toys like a pint-sized pirate under the living room table. Apollo’s morning routine is nothing short of adorable—he loves to roll, wiggle, and burrow into soft bedding with pure joy, especially when it’s time to start a new day with his favorite humans. He’s still learning the ropes of potty training and leash walking, but this clever pup is making great progress. Crate time? He handles it like a champ, settling down for naps after a few squeaky protest barks. While Apollo’s past left him a bit wary of sudden movements, he's blossoming with patient, loving care. He does best when approached gently and given time to build trust. Because of his timid nature, he’d be most comfortable in a home without young children and with a fenced yard where he can safely explore. He’s a cuddle bug in the making, especially once he knows he’s safe—and steak, salmon, or chicken tend to speed up the bonding process! If you're looking for a loyal, playful sidekick who just needs a little patience and a lot of love to shine, Apollo could be your perfect match! Are you ready to be the steady, kindhearted guide Apollo needs on his journey from shy pup to cherished family companion? To learn more or meet Apollo, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
Welcome Summer. Female approximately 5 yrs old, 14 pounds. A darling long haired Chihuahua. Very sweet but does get her feelings hurt easily. Skittish, reserved and does not easily come to you, She takes her time to get to know you, and trust is a major factor. She will nip if provoked. So must be handled with soft touch and voice. Separation anxiety, so a single family home is what she needs. Summer loves contact both by human and other dogs. No cats! Full of energy and loves to play with toys and playmates. CBD and Rescue Remedy helps her stay calm. Loves to go hiking with family, needs lots of room to run and play everyday. Great appetite, food motivated, but can easily gain weight. Excellent health, grooming is a MUST (fur must be brushed every week) Summer is potty trained, walks great on leash, needs plenty of exercise, easily get bored. Super smart, minds well, knows safety and general commands. Loves her humans, foster siblings, lots of cuddle and lap time If you are interested in adopting Summer, please complete an adoption application on our website to be pre-approved: www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.com October 29, 2024, 1:06 am

Story
PUMPKIN IS AN ESCAPE ARTIST AND NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED, DILIGENT ADOPTER THAT LIVES IN AN APARTMENT OR HAS A DOUBLE GATED YARD. AS A YOUNG DOG THAT JUST CAME INTO OUR RESCUE SHE IS NOT COMPLETELY HOUSEBROKEN AND IS STILL LEARNING TO WALK ON A LEASH. SHE WOULD DO BEST IN A HOME WITHOUT CHILDREN AND THAT HAS AN EXISTING PLAYFUL MALE DOG HER SIZE (NO LARGE BREEDS). Pumpkin is a two-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who will steal your heart – and your socks! She is obsessed with socks! Rescued along with her brother, Bean, Pumpkin is high-spirited, athletic, and fearless. She loves to play ball and unstuff toys. She also watches TV more intently than any dog we have ever seen, and reacts to all animals from the Budweiser Clydesdales to the Geico Lizard! She loves people, and is very dog social. We would love for her to be adopted with her brother, but are open to placing her in a home with another playful dog similar in size. We do not believe Pumpkin should be an only dog. Pumpkin is an escape artist and needs an experienced, diligent adopter with a secure home and yard. She has made great strides in her housebreaking, leash walking and basic obedience, but will need a savvy adopter who will provide plenty of structure and training to help her become a good canine citizen. She is eager to please but sensitive, and needs to be guided with gentle corrections. Her exuberance does not make her a good fit for families with small children. --- If you are interested in adopting PUMPKIN please fill out our adoption application by clicking this LINK. Applications are required PRIOR to meeting one of our animals and are used to set up a safe and successful adoption. Please don't be shy and answer the questions thoroughly. To learn more about our entire process please visit www.therescuetrain.org and click on the "Adopt A Dog" page. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT OWN A FACILITY. Our animals are in private foster homes. Chihuahua fun facts

Fun Facts:

The Chihuahua was first imported to the United States from the Chihuahua region (the word means "dry, sandy place") of Mexico in the mid-1800s.

Relative to their teeny-tiny body size, they are the most intelligent dog breed. Also, the smallest living dog in the world happens to be a Chihuahua. "Brandy" is in the Guinness Book of Records for being six inches from tip to tail.

Chihuahuas are popular in Hollywood. Ren of The Ren & Stimpy Show is a Chihuahua, and there was even a 2008 film titled Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Paris Hilton started the Chihuahua celebrity craze, even creating a two-story "Doggie Mansion" for her dogs.
