RICKEY is a 4 year old male chihuahua. He's a bit on the chubby side at 19 lbs but a home that can get him exercising more will take care of that. He came to us from an overcrowded pet home which stunted his social skills but that's behind him. He is now very friendly, readily wags his tail and perfect for the right person to be his best friend forever. He says he's fine with other dogs but he's had so many in his life, he'd like a home with maybe one other. It's a human he's seeking. He's come so far with us, we cant wait to see how far he can go with you! If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. FRED is a 5 year old male chihuahua that weighs 15 lbs. He is a shy, gentle little dog that is working hard to enjoy a better life. He came to us from a hoarding situation. A senior became ill and left 8 little dogs behind in her home. They were well fed but poorly socialized. FRED started with us in foster care. Earlier this year, he graduated to our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. For most dogs, this program is designed to address obedience issues, for others, the socialization aspects of the environment are perfect. And we love it when "a plan comes together!" FRED can walk on a leash, sit on command and sit up for a treat! His greatest accomplishment? He loves his inmate and will readily jump into his lap. Many of us take this show of affection for granted. For Fred, he's finally realizing his human buddy is a what a little chihuahua is meant to do. Next steps? FRED is ready to graduate from Paws Behind Bars. He's ready for his own home. The "right" fit for him will be in a quiet, adult home. He will do best with a gentleman owner. He is very easy to care for, and once he bonds with you, there will be nothing but unconditional love. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Say hello to Fuji!!! She is part of our "Apple Litter" and came to us with her 7 siblings. They are from southeastern KY where the owner could no longer care for them. Fuji is in a foster home that has lots of kids, kittens and puppies so she is very well socialized. She is going to make a great addition to any family. She is a chi mix and we expect her to be small size at full maturity. If you're interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received. Keep in mind she is a young puppy with a life expectancy of up to 15 years. Our guiding principle for adoptions is to seek the right fit for family and for dog, including a home that can stay committed to her for life.
