Story
Meet Wardy! ? This stunning boy has a story of resilience and hope. Wardy came to us from a local shelter, where he was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list for being "fearful." However, Wardy has proven that labels can be deceiving—he’s far from fearful! In fact, he’s a social butterfly who adores meeting new people and quickly charms everyone with his sweet personality. Wardy is an outdoor enthusiast and absolutely loves going for walks, where he eagerly explores his surroundings. He’s also a perfect travel companion, riding calmly and happily in the car. When it comes to canine friendships, Wardy is a superstar! He’s incredibly dog-friendly and would make a wonderful second dog, whether your current pup is big or small. With his striking red brindle coat and unique long, low, and stocky build, Wardy is truly one of a kind. At just 14 pounds, he’s a compact little package of love and energy. At approximately 3 years old, Wardy is the perfect age—past the puppy phase but full of youthful enthusiasm. Wardy would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his zest for life. Despite his tough start, he’s embracing his second chance with enthusiasm. He’s currently working on house training and making great progress, thanks to his eagerness to please and food-motivated nature. We don’t know why Wardy ended up in the shelter, but what matters most is that he’s left that chapter behind. He’s ready to start a new life with a family who will love and commit to him forever. If you’re looking for a loyal, friendly, and energetic companion, Wardy is your guy! ? To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Meet Tia! This 4-year-old, 30-pound girl is as unique as she is charming, with a beautiful merle coat and a personality that will warm your heart. Tia is a sunshine-lover who delights in quiet, peaceful walks around the neighborhood and is happiest when she has a cozy spot to relax by your side. Tia’s initial shyness means she takes a little time to trust new people, but once she does, her love and loyalty know no bounds. Although a bit unsure on the leash at first, Tia is making steady progress with each walk, thanks to her dedicated foster family. She’s fully house-trained, and has a funny, endearing personality that will keep you smiling. In a prior home, she even lived with a dog-savvy cat. Tia would thrive with a patient, understanding adopter who can give her time to settle in and gain confidence. Ideally, she'd love a home with a confident and mellow, male dog friend who can show her the ropes. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys quiet days at home and just needs a little extra time to open up, Tia might be your perfect match! Meet Indigo – The Sweetest Shadow Puppy! Indigo is an adorable 7-week-old puppy who will be ready to join her forever family in just a few weeks! This beautiful black-coated girl is full of love and charm. She’s the kind of pup who will follow her people everywhere, always wanting to be part of the action. Her mama is a 20lb cattle dog-dachshund mix, while dad is unknown. Right now, she weighs just 3lbs, and we estimate she’ll grow to 10-15lbs when fully grown. Indigo Needs a Committed Forever Family! Indigo is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. She loves to explore, wrestle with her siblings, and then curl up for snuggles. She’s a smart little girl who will thrive in a home that can give her structure, training, and lots of love. She would do best in a family that has another friendly dog to be her playmate and role model. A home with a yard and people who want an affectionate companion to bond with would be ideal. Indigo had a rough start in life. She was found abandoned in an orchard in Fresno, left for dead. But thanks to a kind rescuer, she made it to the Bay Area, where she is now thriving in a loving foster home with dogs and kids. What Indigo Needs: A family committed to training, socialization, and exercise. Someone who wants a loyal best friend who will always be by their side. A safe environment while she finishes her puppy vaccinations (she won’t be ready for public surfaces for another two months). If you’re ready to give Indigo the forever home she deserves, she will bring endless love, fun, and companionship to your life! Apply today to meet this special girl! Story
Meet Adorable Dasher, a charming Red Chiweenie mix who is ready to find his forever home! He is 11 months old and weighing in at 17 pounds, this little guy has a delightful dachshund face paired with long legs that make him unique. Dasher’s journey started in an orchard, where a kind-hearted person rescued him. When he arrived, he was very thin and struggling, having survived on olives. Thankfully, with a little TLC, he is now thriving! Handsome Dasher has quickly settled into life at the sanctuary, where he enjoys the comforts of a warm bed and plenty of love. He’s friendly with other dogs and loves to play, making him a great companion for any pet lover. He has learned to navigate the doggie door but will need some help with house training. Additionally, he could use some more leash training to help him stroll confidently on walks. Dasher is neutered and is currently vaccinated and microchipped, making him ready for adoption. If you’re looking to add an affectionate and playful friend to your family, Dasher is eager to make your house his new home. Don’t miss the chance to meet this sweet boy he is sure to bring joy and love your family—he’s waiting for someone like you! If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. Story
Meet Black Jack (Blackie)❤️‍🔥🐾 Blackie is a long haired Dachshund mix (maybe Australian Shepherd). He is estimated to be about 7yrs old, 15lbs. Blackie was surrendered to the shelter by his elderly owners who were keeping him in the backyard because they were scared they would trip on him in the house. Blackie starts off by being shy and timid, but when he warms up Blackie is loving, gentle, and loves to be brushed. Matter of fact, Blackie thrives on the love and care that comes with brushing. Another way to win Blackie over is with treats, he loves them!! It will take a calm, quiet environment for Blackie to blossom into the sweet dog he is. Blackie would be great for a single person or family with older kids, who want a mellow companion. Blackie does not know how to walk on a leash and frankly once he trusts you and you become his person/people, Blackie will follow you anywhere. Blackie gets along with cats and mellow dogs.Blackie is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and up to date on his rabies vaccine. If you are interested in meeting Blackie, please fill out an application at www.broketailrescue.org, located under the contact tab.
