Story
This cute little nugget is named Giblet. Giblet is a 3 ½ year old Chiweenie. He is shaped a bit like a sausage and weighs 15 pounds. Giblet came to us after spending several weeks at the Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control shelter. He was very scared and nervous there and for that reason he was not getting any attention from potential adopters. Giblet has a tough outer shell until you get to his squishy middle. When Giblet meets new people, he will bark and act like a grizzled guard dog. But if the new person gives him a minute to sniff and maybe tosses him a treat, Giblet will soon jump in their lap to get to know them better. Then he becomes quite the little charmer. He looks longingly into your eyes and then lays his head on your chest or arm for a snuggle. He also likes to be held in the crook of your arm like a baby. We don’t think Giblet lived with other dogs until he came to his foster home. No wonder the shelter was so scary for him being surrounded by other barking dogs. It took him a little time to trust the other dogs in his foster home, but he is now starting to play a bit with select ones. He could live with other small dogs, but he would also be very happy as the only dog in his home. He bonds to humans quicker than to other dogs. He loves to play with people and gets very wiggly like his wagging tail makes his whole body move. Giblet walks well on a leash, rides well in the car and is housetrained. He is a smart little dude. He quickly learned the routine at his foster home. He hastily runs to his kennel to wait for his food bowl at mealtime. Like most Chihuahuas he loves to burrow in blankets, and you will often find him sitting on the couch with a blanket draped over him looking like a little Yoda. Giblet is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm test and microchipped. If you would like to meet this little tidbit, please go to our website at www.furfunrescue.org and fill out the adoption application. If you have questions about Giblet you can email lynette@furfunrescue.org or call 319-310-3120. Indoor homes only. Adopters within 2 hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Giblet’s adoption fee is $300.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you, and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky!   Sophia currently lives with other dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be a bit intimidating to her. Once she realizes you're not scary, she will hang out on the couch with you, happily watch tv, and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. She likes to know where you are and if you aren’t where she expects you to be, she’ll track you down to find you.    She enjoys being outside in the yard, doesn’t mind the rain and is mostly house trained. She will use pee pads in the house if they are available to her. She gets very excited for food, so you’ll have to be careful not to overfeed her because she has a tendency towards love handles (that are honestly adorable).   Sophia is very sweet, and she will need someone with patience who will allow her the space and time she needs for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Sophia please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2025, 4:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Bo, but you can call me Mr. Wonderful or something else but don't call me late for dinner. Are you ready to meet me? I'm a wonderful dog that likes going outside and for walks. I need a fenced in yard because I like to chase things like the bunny that is usually in my neighbor's yard.  I don't think I would like living with rambunctious kids, but adults with a quiet home would suit me well. If you want to sit back and watch TV, I'm right there sitting next to you. I like treats and I’ve loved going to doggie daycare to make new friends. I’ve also worked with the trainer to learn some new skills, I’m happy to do anything for a treat! Bo's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives.  If you would like to meet Bo, please submit an adoption application through our website Adopthope.org.  Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept animals as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm
