Bao is a 6 year old, 62 lb gentle giant of a teddy bear who was found as a stray. He knows basic commands such as "sit," "come," and "paw," and likes to be rewarded with a good belly rub! This fuzzy, snuggler is currently living in a foster home and would love to meet you! He'll be at our adoption center on Saturdays, or you can email Debbie@azfriends.org to inquire about a weekday appointment.No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

He walks great on the leash. He rides good in the car, enjoys looking outside, feeling the fresh air blow in his face.  He is a very happy boy always has his tail wagging. He likes to hang around with his family and go on walk/hike. He loves lots of pets. He loves to go in the water, non reactive to other dogs during walks/hikes. He is well mannered in public. Rocky is a beautiful, red chow! He is friendly with family and friends, but he is territorial and a guard dog by nature. He loves to fetch and play hide or run from you to catch him. He loves his people and thinks he is a lap dog. He is not destructive and is patient with food. He obeys very well and will sit by verbal command or by fingers. He also knows leave-it and out.  Rocky is leash trained, house trained and doggy door trained. He must be the only pet in the home. He has turned on the cat and other dog in the house at random times without any provocation. He has never shown aggression toward any person. His current owner is sad to let him go because he is such a precious, sweet dog. Meet Rocky today!
