She is energetic and alert. It takes her time to warm up to new surroundings and people but once she feels comfortable, she allows herself to be the puppy that she is. She loves animals and is not shy about saying hello and making friends. She even loves her ferret friends. She loves head scratches, belly rubs and to be held like a baby. She loves to give kisses. She loves rope toys and will quietly confiscate all toys to her lair (crate) and have a blast. She is still in potty training school, but due to her high intelligence, her progress is excellent! Very trainable. She loves to watch TV no matter what is on the screen. She barks minimally, so when she does bark, it is usually an indicator of some sort. The patience it takes to earn this dog’s trust is worth it. Once she knows that you are a friend her affection becomes infectious and you just want to squeeze her. Patience, love, care, and kindness is the way to this dog's heart. No small children as she gets scared with sudden movements and would be scared if cornered. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
https://foha.org/pet/ashland2021/ Hello world! I'm Ashland! One look at my sweet face and my adorably silly ears, I promise you'll fall in love. I'm a sweet southern gentleman who loves a nice stroll through the woods. I walk nicely with a harness and love exploring. I love adventures and car rides. I'm the perfect passenger and will look out the window or lay down in the back seat. I may even poke my head up front to give you a kiss. I know "sit" and "down" and will do both happily and even without a treat! Since I can be a little shy, I do best with a slow introduction. Once I warm up and trust (doesn't take too long especially with some yummy treats and a gentle touch), I love with my whole heart. I'll lean in for snuggles and belly rubs. And I'll be all tail wags. I've even been known to do some zoomies when I get excited to see my favorite people. I will be best in a home with no kids under 10 years old. And I'd really love to be the only dog for you to love. I can be reactive in new situations so living in a condo, apartment or townhouse are not recommended. I'm really good at letting you know if I'm feeling uncomfortable and my usual happy wagging tail will droop. I prefer to live a nice quiet life. City life isn't my style. I do hope that I can become your new best friend! If you have a nice house with a fenced in yard I would be so happy! Submit an application and come on out to meet me!
