Story
We adopted Sage from the shelter in march to be a companion for our senior dog. She is a 9 year old chow chow mix. We live in an apartment and have realized that she is an outside dog. She thrives in an outdoor yard, and unfortunately we just don’t have that for her. She is house trained, good with cats who are relaxed, and loves to play. She loves people and can walk on a leash, although she is strong if she pulls for any reason. She was slow to warm up to other dogs, but after about 2 weeks she was good with our other dog. She has a skin condition that makes her paws itchy we have been looking for the right medication for her. She is restless indoors, and thrives being outside. I believe she would make a good guard dog as she is very loyal. I havent tested how she is off leash, but I think she would probably do alright seeing as she likes to be around people. I would hate to have to give her back to the shelter because she is truly a wonderful dog.

Story
Spencer came to us as a skinny dirty and thin stray. He is around 2ish years of age. Spencer has a head tilt that was checked by the vet. His ears were checked to see if it could be a result of infection in the ears his ears were clean. The vet suspects prior trauma that resulted in the tilt. Spencer is a sweet boy that likes to be out in the play yards. He has done well with the other dogs he has met but as with any adoption where there is a resident dog a Meet and Greet is required. Spencer does have some anxiety and not knowing what trauma our sweet boy went through before coming to us his ideal home will have someone that is around alot and will give him the time and support to settle and be comfortable!! Spencer is several months out from COMPLETING his Heartworm Treatment and is enjoying more activities like long easy walks. Spencer is neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (POSITIVE) and is current on all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention. Story
To apply to adopt, please fill out an adoption application here: http://littlebigdog.org/available-dogs/ Honey is a feral dog. We are not sure of her exact age, whether seven, ten or older. She lives on a fenced property and prefers sleeping outside except when there is weather, in which case she comes into the house through the doggy door and waits for the storm to pass. Honey loves dogs and lives with at least 14 other dogs who are residents of our senior sanctuary. Honey watches over all the dogs, and inspects every new dog who enters the pack. She has never had a problem with another dog. Honey is happy and healthy. She is very playful and dances for her meals. She playbows with the dogs and loves to run and jump with them. She does not want close contact with humans unless you have a piece of raw meat in your hand, then she will come right up to you and gently take the meat from your hand. Honey has no grooming needs because she will not allow you to get near her. She gets her flea/tick and heartworm preventative in pills in her food.Adoption fees are $200 unless otherwise stated.  Senior residents of Dot's Old Dogs Home are generally not available for adoption.  100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected chained/penned dog or yard-sale dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; grooming (if applicable); heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!  August 12, 2024, 5:03 pm
