Meet Sophie, a 1.5-year-old, 25-pound Cocker Spaniel with a heart as big as her floppy ears! Sophie is the epitome of a happy, gentle, and intelligent Cocker Spaniel, and she’s looking for a loving home where she can truly thrive. Sophie is a true Velcro dog—she loves to be near her people and will happily follow you around all day. She gets along well with other dogs, both big and small, and would do best in a home with another canine companion or a human who is home most of the time. While she’s still working on her potty training, she’s treat-motivated and making great progress with her basic training. Sophie enjoys playing in the yard, running around the house, and engaging in nosework activities like snuffle mats. She’s not a fan of the crate, preferring to sleep on a dog bed or wherever she feels most comfortable in the house. Sophie is shy when first meeting new people, but she warms up quickly with a little patience and compassion. Given her gentle nature, Sophie is expected to do well with young children under adult supervision. However, she does have mild separation anxiety and will “sing the song of her people” if she’s separated from her family, so she needs a home without shared walls. Sophie’s ideal home a fenced yard where she can safely play and explore. She’s still learning to walk on a leash and can be a bit fearful, so a secure environment is a must. Sophie would also benefit from owners who are familiar with the Cocker Spaniel breed and can take good care of her ears. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion who will bring joy to your home, Sophie might be the perfect fit for you! Her minimum adoption fee is $350 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
