Story
Meet Archie! Archie is a 7 year old, 32-lb Cocker Spaniel who is equal parts cuddle buddy and walking partner. Archie thrives on human companionship and adores being the center of attention. Archie's favorite things include snuggles, belly scratches, walks around the block, and a treat or two (or three). Archie is very curious and likes to explore outside. He is very social and wants to get scratches from anyone willing to give them on walks. He is still unsure about new toys but does enjoy chewing toys and his mini tennis balls. In terms of house training, Archie has been working very hard towards being fully house trained and alerting when he needs to use the bathroom. He recently has been learning how to ring his bells to let us know he needs to potty. With a little more time and consistency we are optimistic that Archie will be fully house trained in the near future. Archie is crate trained and sleeps in the crate at night for 9-10 hours but would prefer to be quietly curled up by your side when you are home. Archie is mellow, loving, and just wants to be loved right back. Perfect for someone looking for a chill, affectionate pup who still enjoys some fresh air and fun. Archie is fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Story
Meet Nellie! Nellie is a female 7-year-old Cocker Spaniel who weighs 30 pounds. She was recently rescued from a puppy mill, and she is learning what the good life is all about! Nellie is sweet, loving and loyal! She has adapted to life outside of a puppy mill quickly and has proven herself to be quite resilient! She has not yet met a stranger and loves to give her humans the best hugs. Nellie thrives on human companionship and is content whenever she is close to her foster parents. Nellie’s favorite activities include napping in her dog bed, tasting yummy treats, going on walks around the neighborhood and playing with her toys! She is fostered with a 50 pound dog and a cat, and has done well with them both through slow introductions. Nellie is great on leash and loves to sniff all the fun things outside! She is extremely treat motivated and comes running when called. Nellie has made great progress on her house training but still has the occasional accident inside; she would love a patient adopter to help her master this skill. Nellie is a beauty with her unique coloring and big floppy ears! She is ready to be someone’s best friend forever! Nellie is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Meet Audrey – A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance At seven years old and 32lbs, Audrey the Cocker Spaniel is just beginning to discover what it truly means to be loved. Audrey was rescued from an Amish Puppy Mill where a certain fate awaited her. For most of her life, Audrey lived in a kennel with minimal human interaction, quietly waiting— for attention and love, a moment that never came. But all of that is changing. Now in a loving foster home, Audrey is experiencing a world of firsts. She’s walked on grass for the first time, discovered the joy of a warm bed, and even sat down to watch TV with her humans. Every new experience is met with gentle curiosity and a wagging tail. Audrey is incredibly sweet and affectionate—she melts under head scratches and thrives on kindness. She’s doing wonderfully with other dogs, showing a calm and friendly demeanor that makes her a joy to be around. Crate training is going well, and she’s making steady progress on leash walking. Potty training is still a work in progress, but with patience and consistency, she’s already showing improvement. This resilient girl is looking for a family that will give her the time, patience, and unconditional love she’s never known but so deeply deserves. In return, you’ll gain a devoted companion with the softest heart and the sweetest eyes. Audrey isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for a fresh start. Could it be with you? Audrey is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
