Story
Millie is a sweet girl who has lived outside her entire short life so she still needs house training but that should be no issue. She seems ok with cats but has not been kid tested though she is probably fine with them too.  To be cautious, we say older kids because puppies can knock over toddlers. Age: 6 months  Weight: 25 lbs   Vetting: spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and heartworm testing soon afer 6mos.   Location: Colquitt, GA (3 hours away) but rescuer willing to conduct meetups in Atlanta   Contact for questions: janastoker@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.  August 20, 2024, 8:57 am

Story
Dot is a 3.5 year old Coonhound mix. This sweet and beautiful girl came to us with another dog, Atta, who has recently been adopted. Dot is very friendly but can come across as shy when she first meets you. She is much cuter than this photo can show; Dot proved to be pretty camera shy on picture day! Dot loves to be outside but she can climb a fence and does not need to be left unsupervised. While Dot did come in with another dog, a meet-n-greet is always suggested. Dot enjoys squeaky toys and walks pretty well on a leash, though she could use some work. Dot is tall but lean, weighing right at 50 lbs. We believe this is a pretty good size for her and her breed's body style, but a few extra pounds of love wouldn't hurt her! She is very much like a coondog and we would suggest her to a family with some knowledge on the breed. We do not suggest Dot with small animals because she does have a decently high prey drive.  The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm. The Carroll County Animal Shelter will be closed the last Friday of every month for deep cleaning, staff training, and animal enrichment.August 20, 2024, 2:14 am

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
