Story
Peanut is a soft-hearted sweetheart of a litter of three that were surrendered to our rescue. With his warm tan coat and soulful eyes, he wears his emotions on his sleeve (or rather, his fur). Peanut is gentle, affectionate, and always looking for reassurance—he just wants to be someone’s baby forever. He was devastated when he and his siblings were turned away, but he still believes in love. Peanut needs a calm, nurturing home where he can be cuddled, adored, and treasured as a lifelong companion. He’ll be happiest with a guardian who can offer patience, understanding, and plenty of lap time.

Story
Daisy is a 2 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix looking for her forever home. Currently Daisy is looking for a home that can be patient and slow with her as of first instinct she is a timid girl. She tends to warm up fairly quickly but regardless we are looking for a home that can provide that extra patience. - Daisy has lived with children before but because she is on the timid side we would recommend children being 10 years old and up. - Daisy is good in her crate overnight, and does not have accidents. - She would do best in a quiet home without MANY strangers coming and going. - She is good on a leash and in the car. - She is dog friendly and has met a lot of other personalities. We have noticed that she enjoys calmer dogs more than a hyperactive friend. Dasiy is available for adoption within 3 hours of Chicago. Her adoption fee includes spay, up to date vaccines and preventatives, heartworm negative and microchip. If you are interested in being considered as a potential forever home, please apply for adoption directly. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org.

Story
Squints is a long-hair dachshund puppy who was born completely blind as a result of greedy breeders attempting to breed for non-standard genetic variants. Despite his inability to see, Squints gets around just fine and has a very good sense of direction based on his excellent hearing. He LOVES playing with other dogs and is doing great with crate training through the night. We would love to see Squints find his way into an adoptive home where he can continue to thrive and learn how to be a member of a family. We specifically are looking for a family with another confident and gentle dog that will go at Squint’s speed and help him adjust while he waits for his neuter surgery. With that being said, Squint is accepting applications for a foster to adopt home. He is scheduled for surgery on 4/1 at our Irving Park veterinarian so adopter must be able to make that appointment. His adoption fee will include up to date vaccinations and preventatives, neuter, dewormer and microchip. Due to his neuter appointment he is currently only accepting applications within 2 hours of Chicago. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org

Story
Meet Burger! Burger is an adorable 4-year-old male, who is eagerly searching for his home. This lovable guy is bursting with playfulness, making every day an adventure in his eyes. Burger is sure to bring a smile to your face and fill your home with joy. Burger thrives on interaction and loves to engage in activities with his human friends. He would be the perfect companion for an active person who enjoys spending time outdoors. While Burger is generally a social butterfly, he can be a bit timid and cautious in new situations. Patience and gentle encouragement will go a long way in helping him build up his confidence. Food is one of Burger's biggest motivators, which makes him the perfect pup for training. With positive reinforcement and a handful of treats, Burger is ready to learn all sorts of tricks and commands! In addition to his playful nature, Burger has a cozy side. He enjoys taking leisurely naps, right by your side! Burger would thrive in a home where someone has a flexible schedule and ample time to spend with him. An owner who can provide companionship and lots of love will be rewarded with a loyal and devoted furry friend. Quick Stats! -- Dogs: Does well with other dogs, with slow and appropriate introductions. -- Cats: Does not currently live with cats. Will require training if joining a home with a cat. -- Children: Does well with kids but do best in a home where he is the primary focus.
