Story
Bentley is a 2-year-old dog who is looking for a loving, patient family to call his own. He’s a bit shy at first, and he will need some time to adjust to his new environment, but once he feels safe, he shows his true, gentle nature. Bentley came from a difficult situation where he lived with many other animals, which means he’s had to deal with a lot of chaos in his early life. Because of this, it will take him a little while to get comfortable in a quieter, more peaceful home.Bentley has lived with other dogs and got along well, so he could thrive in a home with other pets, especially if they are calm and respectful. Due to his sensitive nature, we recommend a home with children ages 10 and up, as he would do best in an environment where he can feel secure and not overwhelmed. With a little time, patience, and understanding, Bentley will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a dog who needs a bit of extra care but has so much love to give, Bentley could be the perfect fit for you!If you are interested in meeting Bentley, Macomb County Animal Control is open M-F from 10am-4pm and will be open on Saturday January 25th for a special adoption event from 10am-2pm.Adoption fee is $150

Story
The owner of Arlo, Lainey and 4 other akc registered doxies was living in a rental home with 4 children and the landlord said the dogs had to go. Her mom took them while she was supposed to find another place to live but that did not happen. Her mom had 3 dogs of her own and was overwhelmed so she asked for help. All the dogs are sweet but we took Arlo and Lainey. These two are quite bonded so we are going to try to place them together. They are both spay/neutered, UTD on vaccines and HW negative, They will also be microchipped. In their original home, they were left on a self feeder and I am afraid Arlo overindulged. He needs a home where they will go for walks and watch their diets. but he is so so sweet and cute! Loves cuddles and kisses! They both seem to be reliably housetrained. Arlo is a red pie bald and Lainey is a black and tan wirehaired doxie. Arlo was born on 8/13/2020 so he is 4 years old, Lainey is 3. If you would like to add these fun little babies to your family, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our info and app. If you do not see a reply, please check your spam.
We'll also keep you updated on Lainey's adoption status with email updates.

Name: Brenda Breed Guess: Dacshund Mix Age: 8 weeks old on 1/19/25 Gender: Female Weight: 35-50 pounds as an adult Children: Puppy - will require proper socialization Cats: Puppy - will require proper socialization Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $525 Hello! We came all the way from Mississippi in search of our forever homes. We're super cute and snuggly. We may have stubby legs, but that doesnt stop us from having puppy zoomies! We've been at the ARP since 1/19/25 and am currently located in a foster home. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
