Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucy Lieu-SPECIAL NEEDS-AVAILABLE Meet Lucy Lieu the prettiest girl you ever knew. Lucy is approximately 12-years-old and does have some issues that make her a special needs baby. Lucy was born with deformed front paws as well as some issues with her back legs also. She still gets around fairly well but will take her a little longer than a normal dog. She will go up and down the ramp to outside with little issue. We believe that lucy has some sort of neurological issue which could explain her back legs not working as they should and doesn't allow her to empty her bladder all the way. So several times a day i have to take her outside and manually express her bladder for her. It is simple to do and takes just seconds. This helps her to not leak on herself. She still will leak some at night but as long as you empty her and put her on a towel she will stay fairly dry. I just wipe her quick with baby wipe after she wakes. She give you no trouble with any of it. She loves to snuggle and has no issues with any of the dogs. She is a sweet baby that just wants to be loved. Story
Boomer is a two-year-old, 13-pound Dachshund mix with a playful and happy personality. He gets along well with both dogs and cats, making him an excellent candidate for a multi-pet household. Boomer would thrive as a family dog, spreading joy and companionship to everyone around him. He has great inside manners and is crate trained. His favorite activity is chasing balls in the backyard. Story
Semi is a resilient 20 pound three year old Dachshund mix with an incredible story of survival. After being hit by a semi-truck and sustaining a head injury, he has fully recovered with no lasting effects. Semi is good with cats and dogs, though he can be a bit bossy during mealtime. He’s looking for a loving home where he can thrive and share his unique charm. He loves to snuggle and would be a great only pet for anyone. He is crate trained but prefers to sleep next to his person. Semi has endured so much and will need to be on slow kill heartworm treatment which is covered in his adoption. Story
Meet Slinky. This handsome boy was surrendered to a local shelter because his owners did not have time for him. Slinky is a purebred dachshund. He is 4.6 years old and 16 lbs. Slinky is a sweet boy but is very timid at first. He will need some patience in the beginning and for his new owner to go slow. Since he is timid we believe a home without small children is best. After about an hour in his foster home he was already jumping in his foster moms lap and wanting love. He does well with other dog but is intimidated by hyper or barking dogs. He doesn’t attack but they stress him out and scare him. He’s doing great in the house and learning to use the doggy door. He didn’t mind the crate and seems to like the car. Slinky is a great boy and it won’t take much for him to open up to a new family and love them unconditionally forever. Slinky is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and neutered. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact Parkway Animal Hospital as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. Thank you for your understanding.
