Hello world!
Meet the sweetest hotdog in the world- Dot! Dot is an 8-year-old, 15lb, Miniature Dachshund who is more than ready for her second chance at life.
Dot has been a ray of sunshine ever since she escaped her puppy mill past! She loves to learn new things and is eager to learn more! Dot is good with people, dogs, and cats. She is a great cuddler and loves sleeping on her foster parents’ laps. Dot can be a clingy girl, but she loves to be around people. Dot will follow her foster parents around the house until they can cuddle with her!
Dot has made great progress housetraining, and with a regular schedule she could be potty trained in no time! She has had accidents in the house but is also doing well with puppy pads.
Dot is crate-able, but she really prefers to not be in a crate, and she will let you know. Dot is a bit noisy in the crate, but when she is not crated, she is the calmest and quietest dog! Dot really likes to relax. Dot could stay in bed all day if you let her. She is currently working on becoming more playful and has made great progress! She seems to like chew toys, though she is still learning how to play with them. For now, she is content with chewing on a toy for a few seconds and then hoarding the toys in her bed.
Dot is a little chunky and will require continued weight management. Due to her breed's predisposition to spinal/back issues, it is in Dot's best interest to shed a little weight. She is currently on weight management food, and while she still gets treats, she is limited on how many treats she is allowed. Dot is actually somewhat picky when it comes to treats but does love Acana Freeze-Dried Dog Treats.
With the correct support, Dot's future is looking bright! She is a super sunny girl who is ready to find her family! If you want a smiley dog with a sweet new outlook on life, consider applying for Dot today!
Dot is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
