Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only    Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Meet Bella Hope! This 11-year-old chiweenie is a pint-sized bundle of joy with the biggest ears and eyes that melt your heart! We think when she gives us the “stare” she’s just trying to hypnotize us to give her extra treats! She has the softest, quirkiest quack of a bark! She loves to burrow under ALL the blankets and occasionally serenades us with the cutest little snores during her beauty sleep. Bella does wear a diaper held up by suspenders because, let’s face it, her little bohiney is just too petite! After several vet visits and extensive bloodwork for diabetes, Cushing’s, and even kidney and bladder issues , there is nothing medically wrong with her. We suspect her potty-training issues are more neurological due to the fact her first 5+ years of her life she lived in an apartment and never went out to potty. But fear not, the diapers are easy to change, come in a lot of fun colors, and don’t bother her one bit! She zips around like a champ! Please consider giving this precious little girl a home. She is very loving, cuddly, easy-going, and overall simply a joy to be around!                   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Hope Angel is a 6 year old chocolate female dachshund and she weighs 14 pounds.  She lost her home due to the owners health.  Hope is a loving dog that just needs a little patience at the beginning because she is shy to new people and things.  Once she is comfortable, she is super sweet and is perfect for anyone looking for a lap dog that loves attention. She loves to eat and cuddle on the couch.  Hope needs an adopter that is home more often and another dog for companionship when you aren't home. She doesn't do well being left all day and alone. She is good about using the puppy pad and if she had it her way she would never go outside.  Hope would prefer a quieter home where she can be lazy and cuddle often. The foster has just learned during the holiday break, that Hope is a door darter.  She will need someone that understands that and will be very cautious to keep her safe.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Since they couldn't find an owner, they reached out to us. He is estimated to be around 10 years of age.  He is a sweet boy. He just wants to be around you, he doesn't like to be alone. He likes his humans to be present where he can see them. He has worked his way into sleeping in the big bed next to his foster Dad.  He really likes his foster Dad. He is getting better with housetraining.  He needs a secure yard because he is a runner if you aren't careful.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. She may be a little shy at first, but once you earn her trust, she’ll reward you with endless love, cuddles, and quiet companionship. She’s a low-energy girl who’s happiest lounging on the sofa or soaking up the sunshine outside. Jasmine enjoys playtime with her foster sister, Rose, and is always up for a treat (or two!). She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is polite and sweet with people, even if she needs a little time to warm up. Jasmine would thrive in a home where she can blossom at her own pace. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and peaceful pup to share your life with, Jasmine just might be your perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org I'm a lively 6 year old girl who loved to be around my people. and go for walks when I can. I'm the ultimate protector and will check all the corners of the home to insure your safety.  I would prefer to be the center of your universe though as I do have trouble playing with others. It would take some time and proper introductions for me to be around other pups like me.  I will chase any cat, squirrel or bird our of your yard too.  I do well in a crate and once everything has been inspected, I will go and relax with my bed and blanket.  Balls are my favorite, they light up my world and I will run and play with them when I can.  When I came to live with my foster family it was determined that I had skin allergies that wasn't taken care of.  Doc has me all better and with a little help of Benadryl and Fish Oil my coat is super shiny and soft now.  I would make an excellent companion for someone willing to spend some time with me.   Layla weighs 22 pounds.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Approx 5 years old, 15 lbs. Sweet soul that warms up quickly to humans Adores playing fetch Ranger is a dachshund mix and that will steal your heart with the first tilt of his head and those crazy ears.  This boy has the sweetest soul with not a mean bone in his body – he is definitely a lover, not a fighter.  He shrugs off all the attitude he gets from my little dachshund diva and just goes about his business.  I think Ranger will do equally well as a solo dog or with siblings. Ranger ADORES playing with toys and playing fetch.  He has lots of energy and would enjoy going for walks and finding a human that likes to play ball with him.  He is being trained to sleep in his bed during quiet time (of course with his favorite blanket) and sleeps in a crate at night (again with is favorite blanket), but I am very sure that given the opportunity he would love to cuddle on the coach with you or even in your bed.  Ranger does well with a doggy door and knows where to do his business 95% of the time.  Ranger is looking for his very own human – would that be you???Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
