Story
To learn more about Mandarin and Hearts for Paws, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/2/16/mandarin Mandarin has been lovingly hand-raised in foster care since he was 6 weeks old. He currently lives with both dogs and cats. Mandarin is also housetrained, knows how to use a doggy door and is fine left alone for 3-4 hour intervals. He can take a few minutes to warm up to new people, and has done well with respectful kids. He has received professional training through Saturn Dog Training in Sacramento in preparation for his forever. The ideal home will be ready to commit to 10-15 years of dog ownership; a backyard would be most ideal as he has grown up with one. He may do well with another dog in the home, good with cats, but could also be a solo dog to the right applicants. We would recommend a home with kids 8-10+. DOB: 11/21/23 Neutered Doberman, Shepherd, Mixed Breed estimated 60-70 lbs full grown $250 adoption donation - vetted, up to date on age appropriate shots, dewormed, fecal tested/treated, flea tick treated & available w spay agreement addendum by/before 6 months. They are all microchipped with lifetime registry. Ideal home will: Have the time to commit to all things puppy! Please note puppies do not do well left alone long hours. Long work schedule where the puppy would be left alone for 7+ hours can be difficult on most puppies and young dogs. Solid plans for puppy socialization, positive exposure and continued training + relationship building -- commitment not just to puppyhood but to a lifetime of love, care, companionship and vetting. HFP advocates for Positive Reinforcement only for young puppies and training that focuses less on "obedience" and more on confidence building, relationship building and consent training. Preference to homes w/ friendly & well-trained dog role models (preference, NOT required) Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
We found Dexter in a neighboring field and we believe he was dumped (common in our area) but he was not chipped or neutered. He was posted on local lost animal pages as reported found but a month later, still, no one has reached out...He loves people of all ages but still gets a little over-excited sometimes, so may be best in a home with only older children due to his size. He never wants to leave your side (giant lap dog), if he had his way he would be touching his person at all times. He has a lot of energy and is very playful but also happy to be in his crate...He's both dog and cat-friendly and would do best having another big dog to play with. He's a goofball but intelligent and doing well with our leash and obedience training...It's vital to us that this sweetheart not face the pain of abandonment again so it's important his forever home understands and can meet the training and exercise demands of a large, high-energy working breed...Approx. 7-9 mo. old...Neuter & Vacc. - WIP

Story
*** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER AT: dayanaaxx@gmail.com*** Zoro is a 1 year old intact male Doberman/Australian Shepherd mix. His owner says the following about him: Zoro is a very hyper and anxious prone dog. He developed a snapping habit from a young age we have not been able to control. He will sit in front of you and snap in front of your face for no reason. He also tends to get extremely excited around you and will proceed to jump on you excessively, which can tend to be painful as he’s getting quite large.   We recently moved into an alleyway and he barks excessively at people walking by. He is beginning to lunge against the fence aggressively. It is difficult to contain him, as he beings pacing away from you instead. I want to make sure he goes to a great family that can keep up with his high energy. He’s a lovely dog with a goofy personality — however, can be overwhelming if not exercised enough. He’s very smart and can learn commands quickly, but can be a bit stubborn at times. He may separation anxiety, he will bark excessively if left alone for long periods of time in a different room (i.e caging while showering). Crate trained through the night or if gone for a few hours. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER AT: dayanaaxx@gmail.com***   All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS DOG IS NOT AT OUR SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS DOG, PLEASE REACH OUT TO: grantjwarren@me.com  ***   Goose is a fun sized blue dobie, weighing in at around 63lbs. She is highly intelligent and driven and is very eager to please- she knows her name as well as many commands, including but not limited to “sit”, “down”, “wait”, “shake”, “spin”, “guard”, and something that looks a little like “roll over”. She is crate trained and house broken. She loves her people and would love to cover you in kisses any chance she gets. There is nothing Goose won’t do for her favorite thing, a ball! She is very trainable, but could use a home that is willing to work with a trainer on her issues with separation anxiety, eating fun inedible mystery items, and some resource guarding of high-value toys. Though she has mellowed some in the 7 months her previous owners had her, she is still a bundle of energy and would do best in a home with a good sized backyard and/or a human that is willing to run or bike with her. She is a bit fearful of loud noises and really fast movements, and for this reason, she is not a big fan of kids under ~8 or really energetic children and would do best in a home without them. Her previous owners are dead set on finding her a good home and are happy to send her with her large collection of super durable toys, her Herm Sprenger prong collar, her leashes and harnesses, an XL crate, any remaining Hill’s Science Diet kibble, and her indestructible K9 Ballistics bed.   *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS DOG IS NOT AT OUR SHELTER. Story
Razor is such a quick learner and active dog. There are a few things that have led me to this site. 1. He is a very active dog and being in a crate all day while we are at work is not ideal. He is still new to walking on leash as well so the walks do not go far at the moment. 2. He loves to play and my older dog is losing a lot of hair from razor trying to nip at him. It's playful but I do not think it's fair to my older dog who is 10 yrs old 3. Again, he loves to play. But my older dog gets tired of it and they have gotten into it a few times. Razor does want a lot of the attention and though they have gotten into it, I think it's because my older dog got tired of it and they both got jealous of attention.
