Story
Meet Ringo! Breed: Doberman Pinscher Age: 15-18 months old Weight: 63 pounds Coat: Red & Rust, short-hair - Neutered - Microchipped - Tested negative for heartworms - Up-to-date on all vaccinations - On monthly heartworm preventative - Crate trained and potty trained - Knows basic commands (sit, lay down) I’m a vibrant young Doberman, and I’m feeling great after being nursed back to health. I have a shiny, healthy coat and love playtime, especially when I can run off-leash in a fenced yard. Fetch, chasing balls, and playing tug-o-war are some of my favorite activities. I even invent my own games! On hot days, you’ll find me happily lounging in a kiddie pool and drinking water. I’m very good with my crate – it’s where I eat and sleep, and I’ve never had an accident. I’m friendly and playful with both people and other dogs, and I’ve never shown any signs of aggression. I would love a home with another high-energy dog, preferably male, as I still get a bit excited around females. I was recently neutered, so those urges should calm down soon. I thrive on attention and positive reinforcement. I might get a bit excited when meeting new people, but I calm down after a few minutes of play and become very sweet and attentive. I’m food-driven and patient, so I respond well to treats and training. I’m ready to be part of a loving family and would make a loyal, affectionate companion. If you’re looking for an energetic and playful dog who loves attention and exercise, I could be the perfect fit for you! Apply at bigloverescue.org Doberman experience a plus.

Story
Rooster is available for in-state adoption or adoption and transport to another state. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company, and he can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. Rooster is with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy.
