Story
Hi there! I'm Cheech and I am a 4 year old Lab/Bully mix. I was at the city pound for almost a whole year with no luck at finding my forever home. I was brought to PCHS in hopes of getting a better chance of being adopted. I'm a sweet boy and just need someone to teach me some manners. I'm highly food and treat motivated and have already got sit down pat, so I'm excited to know of all the other things I can learn! I seem to do okay with other dogs but would need a proper introduction to be safe. Cats on the other hand seem a little too interesting so I'd be best to go to a home without kitty friends. I do good with children too! I'm not sure if I am housetrained, but I am used to a doggy door and do great with that so I'm sure once I get a set potty-schedule in a home I'll do just fine. Give this sweet meathead a chance and be the Chong to his Cheech! If you're interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. You can also reserve an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other out of state adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meet and greets are available on the appointment request. ##2813954##

Story
Meet Lux—a handsome, possibly a black-coated retriever–Border Collie mix with a heart as big as his smile. At almost 9 years old, Lux is the perfect blend of mellow and affectionate. He absolutely loves people and has spent time around children, taking it all in stride with his gentle, friendly nature. Lux recently returned to the rescue after eight years through no fault of his own, arriving with his buddy Gypsy and another canine friend. Despite the change, he’s shown what a resilient, good boy he is. He’s kennel-trained, and we believe he may be house-trained as well. He’s also neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines—ready to go home. What Lux is looking for: A loving family who appreciates a loyal, people-oriented companion. A calm home that gives him time to settle back in. He could enjoy a dog friend, especially since he came back with buddies, with standard slow introductions. Lux is a steady, soulful dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side. If you’re looking for a devoted companion to share your days, come meet Lux and let him show you what a good boy looks like. You can fill out an application at www.fureverdogdenver.com  If you have questions or would like to meet her, please call Debbie at (720) 588-6809. ##2763523##

Good with dogs,
Story
Dahlia is a sweet, thoughtful little girl who likes to take in the world before jumping into the action. She enjoys sitting back to observe new people and situations, but once she’s comfortable, her affectionate side comes out. Every day she’s becoming more cuddly and loves relaxing near her people after she’s finished exploring. Like any young puppy, Dahlia is still learning potty training, crate training, and basic manners. She’s done well with other dogs in foster care and would thrive with a patient family that will continue building her confidence while giving her plenty of love. ##2788188##

Story
Draco is a playful, outgoing little guy who loves being around people and is always ready for fun. While he craves attention, he’d usually rather chase a squeaky toy than sit still for pets! His happy, curious personality makes him a joy to have around. As a young puppy, Draco is still working on potty training, crate training, and all the usual puppy basics. He’s done well with other dogs in foster care and would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for an active, playful puppy to grow up with. ##2788181##
