Story
Hi there! I'm Cheech and I am a 4 year old Lab/Bully mix. I was at the city pound for almost a whole year with no luck at finding my forever home. I was brought to PCHS in hopes of getting a better chance of being adopted. I'm a sweet boy and just need someone to teach me some manners. I'm highly food and treat motivated and have already got sit down pat, so I'm excited to know of all the other things I can learn! I seem to do okay with other dogs but would need a proper introduction to be safe. Cats on the other hand seem a little too interesting so I'd be best to go to a home without kitty friends. I do good with children too! I'm not sure if I am housetrained, but I am used to a doggy door and do great with that so I'm sure once I get a set potty-schedule in a home I'll do just fine. Give this sweet meathead a chance and be the Chong to his Cheech! If you're interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. You can also reserve an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other out of state adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meet and greets are available on the appointment request. ##2813954##

Story
Ryder is a happy, easygoing boy who is ready for a fresh start. At just 2 years old, he has plenty of playful energy but also knows how to enjoy the quieter moments. Ryder was left behind when his owner moved away, leaving his roommate to care for him and another dog. The roommate did everything they could to keep both dogs safe and cared for, but ultimately did not have the financial means to continue caring for two unexpected dogs. Ryder is now looking for the stability and family he deserves. This sweet guy loves attention from his people and is always happy to accept some well-earned butt scratches. He takes treats nicely, walks well on a leash, and enjoys being part of whatever his people are doing. Ryder is house trained and keeps his kennel clean, giving him a great foundation as he transitions into his next home. Ryder gets along with other dogs and previously lived with a housemate, although he has not yet been dog tested with dogs outside of his previous home. He does have a habit of humping, so his new family should be prepared to continue working on that behavior with patience and consistency. Ryder would thrive in an active home that can provide daily exercise, structure, and plenty of time with his people. Whether you're heading out for a walk, enjoying some time in the yard, or settling in for some scratches, Ryder is happy to be along for the ride. At just two years old, Ryder has so much life ahead of him. He didn't get to choose the circumstances that brought him to AWF, but he's ready to make the most of his second chance. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion who is ready to be part of a family again, Ryder may be the perfect match.

Story
Meet Mr. Marshall, he is by all means, the cutest dog ever! - the perfectionist of puppy-dog eyes, and the most adorable of tail wags combined with butt-wiggles. At about 1.5 years old, and just around 15 pounds, we don't reckon he will be anything other than a lapdog with long legs, for the rest of his life! But, he is as mannerful as can be, and doesn't jump up unless invited, and is quite the docile little dude. He's truly as sweet as can be, offering kisses, and cuddles as often as he's able to, otherwise spending his time napping, or even better, playing some good old chase! Both games tend to keep this little man engaged! Marshall seems to have his basic commands down, with treats, and we KNOW he's got crate-training down, as he's easily one of the best behaved dogs we've got! He is nice and content, sleeping in his bed, typically kicking his legs while snoring away on his back. We know for a fact that no matter who adopts him, they will have the cutest puppy wherever they go! Plus, who could ever get over his adorable little underbite!
