Story
Jack has been an amazing addition to our family after we adopted him as a puppy in 2020. He is loving, playful and very eager to please. He is well disciplined and has always been gentle with our cat. He loves to play catch, swim and is great off-leash on hikes. Three considerations are: (1) he gets defensive with strange dogs that are bigger than he is if they approach him, but he's never had a single issue with dogs smaller than him or with familiar dogs of any size (2) he does not initially like to be pet by he people doesn't know, but warms up quickly and (3) when on a walk he wants to chase cats that he doesn't know.I need to move to a city apartment where Jack would not have much fun and I'm hoping to find him a loving home where he can still have some time outdoors. This is a great dog that will be a great addition to the right home.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE A TEXAS-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN TEXAS AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOUR STATE ONCE ADOPTED. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Hi, I'm Zoey! I'm a 6-year-old, 25-pound girl with the cutest little ears you've ever seen (or so I've been told). Life changed overnight when my owner passed away. I lost the person I loved most, and it's left me a little unsure of the world. Because of that, I can be shy when we first meet. But if you'll give me a little patience and kindness, I'll show you just how sweet I really am. You know what makes me feel brave? Other dogs! I absolutely love having a canine friend around, and I really need a home with another friendly dog who can help me feel safe and show me that everything is going to be okay. I'm also great with cats, so if you've got a feline roommate, I think we'll get along just fine. I'm not looking for a loud or busy life. I'd much rather have a peaceful home where I can settle in at my own pace, take cozy naps, enjoy quiet moments, and slowly become your loyal little shadow. I've already experienced heartbreak, but I'm ready to believe in happy endings again. If you have a gentle heart, a quiet home, and a dog who wouldn't mind a new best friend, I promise I'll do my best to fill your home with love.

Good with dogs,
Story
Every family deserves one dog who reminds them to slow down. That's Lizzie. Nicknamed "Lounge Lizard Lizzie," this sweet girl has turned relaxation into an art form. Whether she's stretched across the couch, soaking up the sunshine in the yard, or supervising life from the patio, Lizzie is happiest simply being near her people. She may be a little reserved when you first meet her, but don't let that fool you. Give her a little patience, a handful of gentle pets, and maybe a piece of popcorn, and you'll discover one of the sweetest, most loyal companions you'll ever know. Once you earn her trust, you'll be greeted with an enthusiastic helicopter tail every time you walk through the door, and she'll happily shadow you around the house just to make sure she doesn't miss out on anything. Lizzie is also surprisingly clever. She's a puzzle toy champion, loves figuring out treat games, and every now and then will break into an adorable game of fetch—especially if belly rubs are part of the deal. She is 4 yrs old, 29 lbs, fully housetrained and has wonderful manners indoors. She'll quietly let you know when she needs to go outside with a soft whimper or by waiting patiently at the back door. Lizzie dreams of a home with a fenced yard where she can wander, sniff the breeze, listen to the birds, and stretch out in the sunshine. She's still building confidence on leash walks, so a family willing to let her learn at her own pace will help her continue to blossom. Because she's a gentle soul, Lizzie would thrive in a calm home as an only dog or with another easygoing canine companion. (She hasn't met cats yet.) She isn't looking for adventure every minute of the day—she's looking for someone to share life's quiet moments with. If you've been searching for a loyal best friend who believes the perfect day includes sunshine, snacks, belly rubs, and simply being by your side, Lizzie has been waiting for you. **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our adoption questionnaire.* The adoption fee for this dog is $425. Routine vetting and spay or neuter surgery are included in the adoption fee. For more information, please email Katherine at kberger@petconnectrescue.org.
