Story
From Cash's former family: "Hi my name is Cash. I'm great with kids of all ages, cats and dogs. I know how to sit, stay, lay down and crate command. I love to be outside and on walks! My ideal family would be loving and have another fur friend for me to play with along with lot of chew toys we can share! I'm very well potty trained. If you put Christmas bells on the door knobs, I'll ring them to let you know I have to go potty!"

Story
Corduroy leiashope.org Troy, MO Corduroy is an adorable Yorkie puppy who was born in our care on May 2, 2026. He is still every bit the spunky, mischievous little guy he has always been and is happiest when he is right in the middle of the action! Corduroy is confident, curious and full of personality. He thinks he is much bigger than he really is and loves trying to keep up with the bigger dogs. He has never been one to take the easy route and would much rather proudly hop up and down the stairs than use a ramp. He has a blast with kids and loves having someone to play with. Corduroy is playful, busy and always looking for his next adventure. He enjoys tiny balls, crinkly cat toys, wool balls and a good game of tug. He also loves playing with other dogs and would do best in a home where he has a playmate, whether that is children or a young, playful dog. Corduroy is still very much a puppy and comes with all the usual puppy mischief. He likes to chase feet and believes shoes are something he must save people from. Fingers, toes and moving feet can also become tempting chew toys, and puppy teeth are sharp. His adopter should be prepared to continue working with him on appropriate play, chewing, manners and impulse control. Because Corduroy likes to dart around feet and chase shoes, he may not be the best fit for someone with mobility concerns. His enthusiasm and sharp puppy teeth should also be considered carefully in homes with very young children. Corduroy has been raised using Puppy Culture and has been introduced to different people, places, sounds, surfaces and experiences while growing up in foster care. He is smart and picks up new skills quickly, but his training and socialization will need to continue as he matures. We strongly encourage his adopter to continue with Puppy Culture’s next program, With Open Arms and a Level Head. Corduroy enjoys being part of the family and would not be happy spending long days alone. Like all puppies, he needs frequent potty breaks, supervision, continued training and plenty of appropriate outlets for his energy. He is currently eating a combination of raw, freeze-dried raw and air-dried food. His appetite can vary from day to day, so his adopter should be comfortable monitoring how much he eats and adjusting portions as needed. Any future food changes should be made gradually. Corduroy has his natural tail. He is microchipped and current on his age-appropriate vaccines and veterinary care. Corduroy has not yet been neutered. We recommend waiting until he is at least 6 months old before neutering. His adopter will be responsible for having the procedure completed at the appropriate age, and Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue will provide a credit directly to the adopter’s veterinarian toward the cost of his neuter. A puppy is a commitment that may last 15 years or longer. Applicants should carefully consider the time, expense, training and lifestyle changes involved in raising a puppy before applying. Corduroy is located in Troy, Missouri. Applicants must be willing to travel to the location provided after approval. We do not transport or ship dogs. Those flying must bring Corduroy home with them in the airplane cabin; he will not be permitted to travel in cargo. Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-run rescue. Our volunteers process applications as quickly as possible, but applications generally take 7–10 business days to review. An approved application is required to proceed with the adoption process. Applying does not guarantee adoption, and applications are reviewed to find the home that is the best fit for each individual dog. Additional adoption information and applications can be found at leiashope.org.
