Story
Tank turned 8 on December 9th, he is an amazing dog with a lot of love to give. He loves to cuddle, and even at his age still loves to play for short periods. He listens well, and picks up on changes easily. He really is an amazing dog and it pains me to be looking for a home for him. We have had him since he was a puppy. However, he can have an aggressive side to him, he has at times in the past shown aggressive behavior in growls of warnings, he was attacked and hospitalized by another dog and since he has been more on guard and recently nipped my mother over a treat on the floor and growled at another visitor over food on the floor. This mixed with rare additional signs of aggression makes us too worried for our new infant twins. He has always been great with kids, but we don’t recommend him being in a home with young children or other dogs. We simply can’t take the very slight chance with the babies in the house who will soon be toddlers.

Story
** Please note, Armada is in Maine, not NYC** Are you looking for a playful, bed warming, people obsessed, new best friend? Met Armada. 50lbs, 1 year old, female mix breed dog looking for a home with someone to love her as much as she already loves you. Despite a rocky start is life, Armada is ready to be your perfect companion. She was found as a stray when she was a puppy, taken to the shelter where she lived for several months before being adopted. Sadly just weeks later, Armadas new owner was diagnosed with a illness that prevented them from giving Armada the life she deserved.  Armada was devastated to return to life at the shelter and would cause herself physical injury trying to get closer to people. She was just so desperate to live in a home again. Since joining our rescue, Armada has been loving life in her wonderful foster home in Maine. Possibly due to partially growing up in the shelter, or maybe just a personality quirk, Armadas behavior towards other animals is inconsistent and she is selective about other dogs. Towards smaller dogs she can become over excited and dominating, and towards larger dogs she can be aggressive. Around smaller wild animals she has shown a need to chase them, yet she was completely disinterested in caged cats when she was introduced to them at the shelter. Because of this we recommend Armada be the only pet in her family or in a home where all the animals can be kept separate when not monitored.  If you think you can give Armada all the love she deserves and would like to meet her, please go to Petstablished.com or follow the link below to complete an application to adopt. All of our animals are in foster homes. For the sake of our animals and foster families, you must have an approved application with references before you can meet them.  http://shelterchic.org/adopt/ In order to receive a speedy response to any inquiry, please email us directly at Info@ShelterChic.org or check out our website ShelterChic.org where you will find the answer to most questions about our adoption process and fees. Please remember that our organization is run entirely by volunteers in our spare time, and emails are responded to in order of importance. If you do not hear from us and cannot find the information needed on our website or in our animals profile, please reach out to us again. For more images and tales of our pets in foster-care check out our social media pages @shelterchic  ***PLEASE DO NOT email to ask if the animal you are interested in is still available. Just check Petstablished, if they are there, they are available! Please note that 3rd party adoption sites take 6-12 hours to refresh. Allpaws.com and petharbor.com are 4+ months out of date. We are not associated with Petcurious.com in anyway. Please do not apply for animals you see there without checking they are on the Petstablished website first. ##2269446##

Good with dogs,
Story
Oakley18lbs7 months oldNeutered 1/6/25Aussie Mix Oakley may be small but he has a big personality! He loves to be around people and other dogs big or small. While playing with other dogs he can be very vocal and does like to get up close and personal in their private areas so would do well with dogs who don’t mind. He currently lives with a cat sister who he is pretty curious about but doesn’t understand why she won’t play with him so would be best with a dog savvy cat. Potty training is still a work in progress but he already picked up on using the bell at the front door! Little man is getting used to the cold and does best outside with a sweater on. He is gaining confidence on walks with his two foster brothers and is getting better with wearing a collar and being lead on a leash. He is doing amazing with crate training during the work day and through the night when next to his dog brothers. He is a great co-pilot in the car (might get a little car sick but unsure) but does love a plain timbit for his travels. He loves when his foster mom makes his kibble extra special with a splash of water and loves to use slow feeders and food puzzles of any kind. Oakley loves to cuddle up and get snuggles, especially after a long day of play and walks. His foster parent’s favorite things about him are his two different colored eyes and his big ears ♥ If you are interested in Oakley, please apply at the adoption link in the comments below or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved. ##2266623##

Story
SushiShiba Inu/Corgi mixFemale (spayed)Approximately 30 pounds 1-2 years old Has a sweet tooth   Kisses on the first date Prances instead of walks Sushi, AKA Sushi Queen , is a beautiful, energetic, Southern gal ready for her furever home. Sushi is potty trained (piddles when she gets really excited) and crate trained.  She loves all people, and while she is not currently in a home with other pets, it has been said that she is friendly with other animals.  She does not react to other dogs on walks (she only tries to chase squirrels, bunnies, and deer ).  There doesn’t seem to be a mean bone in her body, but she might be better with kids school-aged and up because she likes to play nibble and needs to learn her manners when it comes to jumping. Sushi settled in quickly, not taking long at all to decompress.  She is a very sweet & happy girl who tends to lack personal space.  She loves to play with her toys, go for walks, and romp through the snow in her foster family’s fenced-in yard.  She will be better suited in an active family or presumably even in a multi-pet home where she has a playmate. Sushi’s foster mom’s favorite thing about her is her pretty face, soft coat, & wet kisses. If you are interested in Sushi, please apply at the adoption link in the comments below or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved. ##2263512##
