Story
Stella Louise is the kind of dog who fits beautifully into everyday life. At about 1.5 years old, this gorgeous, 75-pound, spayed Great Pyrenees mix has the perfect balance of playfulness and companionship. She loves running around the yard, wrestling with her dog friends, and stretching her long legs, but she's just as happy relaxing beside you after the fun is over. Sweet, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever you're doing, Stella is looking for a family to call her own. Stella Louise is being fostered in Austin, Texas and is available for adoption out of state. Transport can be arranged by the rescue once matched with an approved adopter. The adoption process includes an application, phone interview, video call with the foster home, virtual home visit, and vet and personal reference checks. Stella and her brother came into rescue after their owner made the difficult decision to surrender them. They had developed a habit of escaping their livestock fencing, something we suspect was largely driven by the fact that neither had been spayed or neutered. Since being spayed and settling into foster care, Stella hasn't attempted to escape. Even so, because of her athletic ability, we recommend a home with a secure fence to help keep her safe. She can easily clear a standard baby gate, so a secure yard is important. Stella is potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on leash. She rides well in the car, although she may be a little nervous at first. She enjoys daily walks, playtime, and opportunities to get her energy out, then is perfectly content spending the rest of the day hanging out with her people. Whether you're working from home, watching TV, or relaxing outside, Stella is happiest simply being nearby. She absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion to play with. While she could be an only dog, another well-balanced dog would give her both a buddy and an outlet for her playful side. Regular exercise and enrichment will help keep this young girl happy and fulfilled. Like many dogs who form deep bonds with their families, Stella has a little separation anxiety. Because of that, she'd do best in a home where someone is around more often than not. A work-from-home or hybrid schedule would be an ideal fit, as she'd happily curl up at your feet while you work. Stella hasn't been around cats or children, but based on her gentle temperament, we think she'd likely do well with respectful, dog-savvy kids who understand how to interact appropriately with dogs and respect their boundaries. She also has one classic Great Pyrenees trait: she likes to let you know when something catches her attention. If she hears an unfamiliar noise or spots someone outside, she may give a few alert barks before settling right back down. If you're looking for a loving companion who's just as happy joining you for an adventure as she is spending a quiet evening by your side, Stella Louise may be your perfect match. She has so much love to give and is ready to spend the rest of her life with a family who will include her in all of life's little moments. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
