Story
Meet Bennu - the three-legged miracle who never learned that he was supposed to feel sorry for himself. Bennu's story is heartbreaking, but his spirit is nothing short of incredible. He was severely neglected by his previous owner, who accidentally ran over and broke his leg. Despite the horrific injury, his owner never sought veterinary care. Instead, his leg was simply wrapped in a bandage and he was left behind to suffer. By the time Bennu was rescued, he was near death and septic. He needed emergency surgery, days of intensive antibiotics, and ultimately had to lose his injured leg. But that was then. Today, Bennu is healthy, happy, and absolutely living his best life! Don't let the missing leg fool you - this boy can MOVE! His foster says he is just as fast, if not faster, than the other dogs and he is twice as enthusiastic about getting outside and enjoying every second of life. Bennu is affectionate, gentle, social, house trained, crate trained and wonderful with adults, kids, dogs AND cats. He loves being outside, enjoys his walks and has a happy little howl that will let you know how he feels about things. Bennu doesn't know he's different. He only knows that he is loved, he is safe, and he is alive. After everything he endured, he still greets the world with happiness and a heart full of love. This special boy isn't looking for someone to feel sorry for him - he's looking for someone who will see the amazing dog he is and give him the forever home he has always deserved. Bennu is going to be A VERY special companion to the lucky person or family who chooses him. Medical Notes: Previous leg injury requiring amputation; fully recovered and doing wonderfully. Story
Sometimes the best dogs are the ones who simply need someone to give them a chance. Meet Buster, a handsome American Bulldog mix from Kentucky. This brindle boy is a big bundle of love who is ready to leave his stray days behind and find the family he was always meant to have. Buster was picked up as a stray in Casey County, Kentucky, and despite whatever his past may have looked like, he has remained an incredibly sweet and trusting boy. Buster loves people! He is friendly, outgoing, affectionate, and absolutely loves to cuddle. He is comfortable with both men and women and has done well with children. Dog-friendly! Buster enjoys the company of other dogs and does not require another dog in his forever home. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown, but a cat test will be done. Buster is very well behaved, walks nicely on leash, and is already showing everyone what a wonderful companion he can be. He has so much love to give and would make an amazing addition to a family looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend. After starting life as a stray, Buster deserves to know what it feels like to be chosen, cherished, and home. Story
Flash is almost the perfect dog. He is friendly, affectionate, incredibly smart, completely housebroken, and not destructive. He loves attention, cuddling up next to his people, and having his own special spot on the couch-preferably with a soft blanket. When Flash is happy to see you, his excitement shows in his whole-body wiggle! He is content to spend hours relaxing and snoozing, but he is equally happy to play or head out for a walk. Flash has a gentle, loving nature and enjoys being part of whatever his people are doing. Flash is the kind of dog who makes himself right at home and brings warmth, companionship, and plenty of personality to a household. He does not enjoy being picked up, he would rather sit beside you than on your lap, and table food does not impress him much, but love and attention definitely do. Important: Flash Is an Escape Artist Flash is remarkably clever and can find or create ways out of surprisingly secure areas. He once escaped by swimming across a lake to a neighbor's property. His new family will want to be aware of his talent for adventure and consider what arrangements will help keep him safe, including secure fencing, carefully monitored outdoor time, and secure equipment for walks. He is happiest when he is with his people, but he can't help his himself! If he sees an escape route is is GONE! Aside from his adventurous streak, Flash is an exceptionally easy, loving companion with a truly wonderful personality. He is affectionate, bright, well behaved, and a joy to have around. Flash has so much to offer the family who welcomes him, and he has all the makings of an amazing family dog. Story
Meet Boomer - a tiny little guy with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart! Boomer is happy, playful, affectionate and absolutely loves being with his people. He loves his toys, enjoys going outside and is always ready for whatever fun comes next. But his favourite place? Right beside his person. In fact, if you stop moving for a minute, Boomer will happily park himself right on your feet - just to make sure you don't sneak away without him! Because he likes to stay so close, a home without someone who is at risk of falling would be best for this little shadow. Boomer would love nothing more than to sleep in bed with his person, although he has learned that there simply isn't room for him right now! He settles beautifully in his kennel at night and doesn't complain. And while he has plenty of playful puppy energy, Boomer also knows how to turn it off. After some playtime, he is perfectly happy to curl up for a nap. Boomer and Millie Mae were picked up together as strays by Animal Control. Boomer may have started out as a stray, but he is clearly ready to be someone's beloved little companion. He's sweet, silly, affectionate and happiest when he knows his person is close. This little guy doesn't need a complicated life - he just needs someone who will let him be their shadow, toss him a toy, take him outside and give him a safe place to land. Neck size (for collar): 12" Chest circumference (for harness): 17" Height (from top of head): 14" Length (from nose to base of tail): 22" Crate size recommended: H 21" x L 24" x W 18" Good with adults: Yes Good with kids: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Medium-high Can be handled/touched: Yes Barker: Only if others initiate Flight risk: Not sure; however, all dogs should be considered flight risks in new environments Food aggressive: No Current food: Purina Pro Plan Walks on leash: Yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: No reactions observed; haven't encountered people or dogs while walking Rides well in car: Yes Destructive: No, as long as he has toys Needs a home with a yard: Yes Needs a home with another dog: Not necessary, but would be happy with one Can live in an apartment: No Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Sweet little Blondie is a beautiful Golden Retriever mix from Mexico who is patiently waiting for someone to give her the second chance she deserves. Blondie was rescued on a rainy night after being found abandoned and tied to a tree. We can only imagine how frightening and confusing that must have been for her. Despite everything she has been through, Blondie has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting. We believe Blondie once had a loving home because she is so well behaved and comfortable indoors. She knows how to settle down, loves being close to her people, and will happily lay beside you and simply enjoy your company. She has such a calm and tender nature that makes her incredibly easy to love. Blondie is cute, affectionate, quiet, and gentle. She isn't looking for much - just a safe place to call home, a cozy spot to rest, and someone who will love her for the rest of her life. We think Blondie would be especially wonderful for a senior or a calm family looking for a peaceful and loving companion. She has so much love to give and is more than ready to leave her difficult past behind. Please give this sweet girl a chance. Blondie has already been through so much, and now she deserves the happily-ever-after she has been waiting for - a forever family where she will never again feel abandoned or alone.
