Story
Benji is a smart, lovable, playful 5 year old Giant Schnauzer Standard Poodle mix. He loves to play fetch and tug of war with his toys. He has some anxiety at first meetings. Once he’s comfortable he’s a big teddy bear, and very protective and loyal to his person. He’s not good with small dogs but is ok with larger dogs once he gets to know them. He’s protective and possessive of his person or dog that he has bonded with. He’s never been around children, how he might act is unknown. He will be a great companion for someone with knowledge of dog behavior that has time to love and work with him.

Story
weight 16 lbs age: 15 weeks as of 6/22/2024 adoption donation $699         Chandler and Monica were found on their own in a rural part of Mississippi but fortunately Wags stepped in to take the pair in. They are both friendly and mellow puppies  who will make a wonderful family dogs. Chandler looks like he has pointer in him, He’s adorable, white speckled legs! There may be some Chihuahua or something that is keeping him on the small side, he will likely be a smallish medium size dog when full ground.      Chandler is such a sweetheart! He loves everyone he meets, his tail wags when he sees New people and he absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Chandleris very cuddly and doing great with house training.     Chandler has had his  puppy shots, is microchipped, will be neutered in the northeast when he  is older, Wags will pay for her spay at one of the clinics we use or reimburse what we pay if an adopter decides to use their own vet.      Like any puppy Chandler  needs someone who will be around for him  and give him the structure and training he needs to grow up to be the very good boy we know he can be. Story
adoption donation $550 weight: 26 lbs Age: four months as 6/26     Dolly is just the sweetest! She is a calm and very chill puppy. She settled in quickly in her foster home in the northeast, she’s super affectionate with her foster mom and likes her foster dad and the other dogs in the house. Her tail never stop wagging! She loves toys and bones and is doing great housebreaking.   Dolly’s mom is a medium size lab and dad is a mix, also not a big dog. She and her siblings were given to Wags of Monroe County outside of Tupelo Mississippi to help find them loving homes.      Dolly has had her vaccinations but will be spayed in the northeast. Wags has clinics that we use and we will pay for the procedure or if adopters want to use their own vet the rescue will reimburse what we pay.       Like  any puppy, Dolly needs a family dedicated to giving her the training and structure she needs to help her grow to be the very good girl we know she can be.  Wags is a registered 501 C3, it is a struggling rescue in Mississippi where one woman cares for almost 150 homeless dogs. Adoption donations are our only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fees include the transport, vaccines, spay or neuter.   For more information, please email Mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com  July 7, 2024, 6:25 am

Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see  HERE Age: 4 months Weight: 13.4 pounds This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Baby Yoda is a very sweet and playful young puppy. We have no idea what breed she is--but, she is definitely adorable and her ears are awesome! She was found right by the area where Yoda Jedi, an SOS alumna, had been picked up three weeks earlier. Yoda Jedi was lactating when she was rescued, but no puppies were located. Considering the timing and the strong resemblance, we are convinced that Baby Yoda is Yoda Jedi's daughter, which is a happy ending to the story. Baby Yoda was in rough shape when she was found, but after some medical attention and tender loving care, she is now gorgeous and fully recovered. She is currently living in an active foster home with an adult couple, three children, dogs, and cats. Baby Yoda loves everyone, including the cats! She really enjoys playing with the resident dogs, but she is also happy to cuddle up with her people whenever possible. She only barks when she is romping with her pals. Her house, leash, and crate training have started, and she is already making terrific progress. She rides well in the car, but sometimes gets a little anxious. We recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, especially puppies, because you and your new friend get to learn the commands together and the puppy gains confidence. It's also fun! Baby Yoda has been described as a laidback and easy puppy who has been a perfect house guest. She will be an excellent fit for almost every living situation, and anyone lucky enough to adopt her is certain to fall madly in love! Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange, and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. July 7, 2024, 1:12 am

Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see  HERE Age: 14 months Weight: 47 pounds This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Sylvie is a beautiful young adult boxer mix whose foster mother describes her as being "perfect." She was found abandoned on the road by one of our rescue partners and was never claimed. We believe that she may have been dumped because she was heartworm positive, although she has now completed her medical treatment and is feeling just fine. Sylvie has been living in an active foster home for four months, with an adult couple, three children, cats, and other dogs. She is very playful, but respects corrections. She will frolic with the resident cats, but always stops when they get bored, and never gets too close. She respects the one cat who might give her a whack, and politely keeps her distance. Sylvie has a fabulous time romping with the resident dogs. She enjoys games of chase, bitey-mouth, and rough wrestling with them. She is an outgoing girl who likes going places, and meeting new people and pets. Sylvie appears to have had basic training, and she has never had an accident in her foster home. She is calm and quiet in her crate, and she walks very nicely on her leash. Her foster family reports that she never barks. We always recommend obedience training for our dogs, since it helps you form a bond with your new pal, and we think that Sylvie will be the star of the class! Sylvie is a genuinely great dog, and her lucky adopter is going to have a wonderful time with her! Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications. Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. Story
Reese is a sweet and lovable tripod who recently lost his front limb. Despite this, he’s adapted wonderfully and is ready to find his forever home.Reese is a bit of a couch potato and a dedicated snuggle buddy. He loves lounging around and will happily keep you company on lazy days. He’s also quite the talker, often whining when he’s not getting his way – it’s his adorable way of communicating with you.One of Reese’s favorite activities is playing with his chew toys. He has a playful side and will occasionally drop his toy off the couch and fake cry until you pick it up for him. It’s all part of his charm! At night, Reese sleeps comfortably in his crate, but when the sun comes up, he loves to join his humans in bed. He’s a champion sleeper and can snooze until noon if you let him.Reese is fantastic with other dogs. While he’s not overly playful, he enjoys being around them and gets along great. He’s also excellent with kids, making him a wonderful family pet. This lovable boy also enjoys car rides and loves going out in his stroller. He’s always up for an adventure!Reese is shy around new people. He’s come a long way but still needs slow intros and someone willing to wait for his trust. He’s been working hard at building up strength as it was exhausting missing a front leg - it’s much harder dogs as that’s where you carry most of your weight. When he is full grown, just over 1 year, he will be fitted for a prosthesis (at our expense of course)! Until then swimming is super helpful to him to build up muscle and strength. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who’s great with kids and other dogs, Reese might be the perfect addition to your familyName: ReeceBreed: Pit Bull TerrierSex: MaleAge: 10-11 months on 7:5 (estimated)Weight: 29 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00 Location of dog currently: New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.
