Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lana - The Sweetheart Who Deserves Her Forever  Lana's story is a bit different. She was adopted over a year ago and was recently returned to rescue - through no fault of her own. Life changes for her previous family meant they could no longer give her the time and stability she deserves. At nearly six years old, Lana is the perfect mix of playfulness and calm. She's housetrained and only crated while her foster mom is at work. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, enjoys leisurely walks, wandering through the blooming garden, loves a wide variety of treats, and lights up when given extra pets and affection. She's not just a pretty face; she's a very smart girl who's curious about everything that you are doing. She might be just a little bit shy but will greet you with a wagging tail and gentle eyes. Lana has already proven she can be a loving, loyal companion - she just needs someone who's ready to commit to forever.  If you're looking for a dog who will adore you unconditionally and fit right into your life, Lana is ready to meet you. Let's give her the happy ending she's been waiting for.    ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard preferred. No invisible fences.  Home with older, respectful children only.   Lana was in need of a dental cleaning when she returned to rescue. This was completed and she had 5 teeth extracted. She is feeling much better. Lana's adoption fee is $450 plus tax.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. *Please read through our Cavalier Information page prior to applying for one of our Cavaliers.  August 9, 2026, 6:54 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We are an all-volunteer/foster home-based rescue. We DO NOT have a physical shelter. Apply to adopt by filling out the online adoption application on our main website dakotadachshundrescue.org Click on Adoption Info under the Navigation bar on the left side of the page. Fill out the form by clicking on the picture of the computer screen with our logo on it.   Meet Houdini… the only escape artist who wants to disappear straight into your heart!   At just 1 year old, this handsome dachshund is ready for his next big adventure: the good life! He’s a happy, curious little guy who loves exploring the backyard, playing with other dogs, and happily accepting treats from just about anyone. (Bribery? He fully supports it. )   He’s still learning the ropes with potty training and leash walking, so he’ll need a family ready to cheer him on as he figures out this whole “house pet” thing. But don’t worry—he’s a quick study, especially if snacks are involved.   Houdini also has a silly, playful side… he’s been known to zoom around like a tiny hot dog on a mission in a securely fenced yard (required for his safety), then suddenly flop down like he’s “mysteriously disappeared” until it’s time for cuddles again. ✨   If you’re looking for a sweet sidekick with floppy ears, a wagging tail, and endless potential, Houdini is ready to make his greatest trick yet… becoming your best friend. ❤️   While he is not ready for adoption yet, you can pre-apply at dakotadachshundrescue.org.   My adoption fee help with my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter,  dental and microchipping.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 9, 2026, 8:18 pm
