Story
Xena is a 99-pound Pit Bull warrior looking for her kingdom! She’s potty trained, crate trained, and a champion cuddler who loves snuggling in bed with her people. She has lived with older teenage kids and adults and thrives in a calm, patient home. Shelter life has made her a little nervous, but with love and reassurance, she’ll be your most devoted companion. Xena has lived with other dogs but doesn’t like to share her throne—she wants to be your one and only warrior. Ready to welcome a true princess into your home? Adopt Xena and start your next great adventure together! Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $275+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

🐾 Hey there, future family! My name is Benny, and I’m here to let you in on a little secret… I’m the best friend you’ve been looking for! No need to keep searching—I’m right here, tail wagging and ready to meet you! I came to Heartland Humane Society with my sister, Bella, because our parents couldn’t keep us. But that just means we’re on a new adventure, searching for the perfect forever home. Could it be with you? 🤔💙 Here’s what you should know about me: 🐶 I love people. Seriously, I’m one of the friendliest little pups you’ll ever meet! 🐶 Big dogs? Kinda scary. I’m a small guy, so I prefer my canine friends on the gentler side. 🐶 Cats? Never met one! But I’m open to making new friends… maybe? 🐶 Cuddles and companionship? YES, PLEASE! If you’re looking for an adorable, loving, and totally devoted pup to add joy to your life, I’m your guy. So what are you waiting for? Give HHS a call and set up a time to meet me! I promise, once you do, you won’t be able to resist taking me home. ❤️ 🐾 Love, Benny 🐾

Story
🐶 Hi there, future best friend! My name is Bella, and I’m a sweet little Yorkie with a big heart and even bigger personality. I came to Heartland with my brother, Benny, because our parents couldn’t keep us. But don’t worry—I’m ready to find my perfect forever home, and I think it just might be with you! Let’s get a few things straight: ✨ I love attention. Like, a lot. If you’re looking for a cuddly, affectionate pup who will always be by your side, then look no further! ✨ I may be small, but I’m mighty. At first, I might bark at strangers, but that’s just me making sure they’re worthy of my love (spoiler: I love everyone). ✨ Other dogs? A little scary. I’m tiny, so big dogs can be a bit overwhelming. And cats? Well, I’ve never met one, so that’s a mystery we’ll have to solve together! I’m looking for a home where I can feel safe, loved, and totally spoiled (because, let’s be honest, I deserve it). If you’re looking for a loyal, adorable, and fun little pup to brighten your life, I’m your girl! 📞 Call HHS today to set up a time to meet me. I can’t wait to wiggle my way into your heart—and your lap! ❤️ 🐾 Love, Bella 🐾

Yuri is a 2.5-year-old, 57lb., Pitbull mix with a heart full of love and energy to match! Yuri thrives on playtime - he’s smart, outgoing, and eager to please. This guy knows “sit” and listens well. Yuri keeps his kennel tidy and is friendly with other dogs, though he prefers slower introductions with new friends. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion - Yuri is your guy! Story
Got yourself a lot of land, or love to daily go out exploring? I'm looking to spend time outside with YOU and this great world. In my former life, I got to run around off leash at my home with acres to explore. When things changed for my family, we hitched a ride into the city and I just wasn't happy. My dad wiped away tears but asked this cool crew at HHS to find me the right place to stretch my legs again. I have lived with adults and chickens and I behave well. I am house trained and love to sleep both in my crate and in my humans bedroom. Car rides are the bees knees. I know my basic commands and don't mind meeting new people. If we sound like a match for each other, let's meet!
