Story
This sweet girl was found sleeping in a pile of trash in an area known for people dumping trash. One of wonderful rescue partners was able to gain her trust with food and brought her home. It was discovered that she had a microchip! (YAY) But the phone number didn't work. And then her story got sadder. Upon searching the information on the microchip, it was discovered that her owner, that she had lived with since being a puppy, had recently passed away. After searching for local relatives listed in the obituary, it was discovered that Gemma had been given away and this was the second time she had gotten loose. So, since the family was still the legal owners, they surrendered her so she could find a wonderful home to spend her golden years. Gemma will need a home willing to allow her to come out of her shell at her own pace. We know this can be hard because of course you want to be able to hug and snuggle your newest family member, but some pups just need to be left alone for a while to realize they are in a safe space and their new people aren't going anywhere. She would like another pup to play with. But an older one. She is still playful, but it comes in spurts with long rests in between. She just doesn't have the energy or patience for puppy play. Gemma will need a home with a secure backyard. As she is known to wander if she gets bored. A 6-foot solid wall/fence is required, no chain-link. Because of needing a calm home, we recommend no young children. Their energy and enthusiasm are too much for her. Gemma is spayed, UTD on vaccines and microchipped. Story
Meet Sol. Sol found himself at the shelter with his sister Audra. These two found themselves at the shelter, picked up as strays. At the shelter, which is very loud and scary place, they were very timid and fearful. The shelter reached out to see if a rescue could give them a better place to come out of their shells. At the shelter being fearful and timid can end in euthanasia. We were able to partner with one of our rescue friends to get them out of the shelter. We hoped that going into boarding where they could interact with several people a day would help them realize humans can be good. Well, the joke was on us. These two are wonderful, curious puppies. When our director went to meet them, they ran right to her to say hello. They crawled up in her lap and have been having a fantastic time at daycare saying hello to everyone they can. We are guessing they are about a year old. This is only a guess; they may be younger. We just can't convince these pups to carry their birth certificates these days. So, this may be as big as they get, or they could grow a bit. Our best guess is that they are terrier/pug mixes. They will be adopted out separately. These are great, funny dogs that love to play. And they are young, so they have energy. If you are looking for a couch potato to hang out and sit with you to binge watch your newest tv obsession all day, these are not the pups for you. These 2 are going to need walks and toys and training. If you are ready to commit to one of these pups joining your family, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application Learn more about me and fill out an online adoption application on the From the Heart Rescue website at: www.fthar.org. Story
Sweet Coco found herself at the shelter as a stray. This wasn't her first time there. She was picked up as a puppy and adopted out. But this time no one came looking for her. The microchip information was no longer current. During her intake exam the vet noted that she had a severe luxating patella, where the kneecap can move out of the groove and slip side to side, and the vet felt it was severe enough to require surgery. Coco was put up for adoption and received a lot of interest, but everyone backed out when realizing that she would require surgery to live her best life. The shelter asked if we could take her and get her surgery so she could have a chance at a loving home. One of our amazing fosters said they had room, and we got her right into our vet. It turns out that instead of a luxating patella, Coco has a torn CCL. Basically, a person's ACL. Our vet no longer handles these types of surgery, so we have an appointment with another vet to see what he says. If everyone could keep a good thought for Coco that would be great. So far, we have learned that she loves to play and is loving and snuggly. Keep an eye for updates about Coco.   Learn more about me and fill out an online adoption application on the From the Heart Rescue website at: www.fthar.org.
