Story
We are heartbroken to have to rehome our boy Zeke. Unfortunately, he is not getting along with our toddler well and we all know babies come first. Zeke is a 3.5 year old pitbull who we have had since he was 5 weeks old. He has always been such a good dog. He will snuggle and cuddle all day if you would let him. He is a big boy, but thinks he is a lapdog. Zeke does have skin allergies that are managed by medicated shampoo and steroids as needed. Please understand this and be willing to accept the job of managing his allergies. He has only grown up around 1 dog, and has not gotten along well with other dogs. Zeke would be a perfect fit for a young male or couple who just needs a loving and energetic dog as part of their family. Our hope and prayer is that Zeke finds the perfect home and owners who will love him like he deserves. We will miss him more than anything.

Story
LOCATION: Plainwell, Michigan DOB: 03/16/2016 (Estimate)Greetings! I’m Louie, and as you can tell from my sleek tuxedo coat, I’m quite the dashing figure. All that’s missing is a bowtie to complete my ensemble, and perhaps, a loving family to admire it.I pride myself on being a stellar companion to humans of all ages, earning the title of “good family dog” from my foster momma. I have a heart full of love and a tail that won’t stop wagging for every member of the family. While I get along with most dogs, I must confess, I dream of being the sole apple of your eye. My kingdom would be complete without the company of those pesky small dogs or feline creatures, as my prey drive is as high as my aspirations for cuddles. As a gentleman of distinction, I maintain perfect decorum whether I’m lounging in my crate or given the freedom of the home. On the leash, I’m nothing short of a professional, and my housetraining is impeccable. A word to the wise: I’m an adept jumper, capable of clearing a 6-foot fence with the grace of a ballet dancer. And let’s not forget the way to my heart—treats! Dog biscuits, to be precise, are the key to my eternal affection. So, if you’re in search of a devoted, loving gentleman who will cherish every moment by your side, your search ends with me. I’m Louie, ready to don that bowtie and step into a life of love and loyalty with you.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Brownsburg, IndianaDOB: 03/29/18 (estimate)Stormy is a snuggly, loving, and amazing dog! She loves her people so much! She loves to splash in the water, and she loves her doggy pool! She is the best cuddler, and now that she is more comfortable at home she has become quite the couch potato. She loves to be in a bed or on the couch, but she definitely prefers to be in bed! She will need lots of time and patience to adjust to her new home and new people (she warms up more quickly to women), but once she gains your trust, she'll be inseparable! Stormy will do well with older children (12 years and older) who will respect her need for space and patience as she adjusts. She does need time to warm up to strangers, especially men, but comes around quickly after learning that they aren't going to hurt her. Stormy loves to go on walks even if it is cold outside. She has done well with her leash and muzzle training. Due to her very tough past, she does have separation anxiety, and is protective over her resources - especially food. She will need a strong, patient owner who will continue to work with her. She does fantastic in the car, and she loves to go get pup cups. She also loves to do enrichment activities that help her with her anxiety such as her lick mat and topple. She is a lap dog who always wants to cuddle and give you lots of kisses. She loves to play with her foster family’s other dogs outside, but she takes a while to warm up to other animals inside. She would do best in a home without cats, and her future family should be aware that she is dog selective and will need careful introductions (again, she struggles more indoors). Because of her sad history of being attacked by other dogs, she can be reactive to other animals and is not a dog park dog. Stormy would be best in a home with larger dogs only, even better if they are bigger than her and enjoy playtime as much as she does! She does not like to go outside very often and she is terrified of being left outside, so her foster family always go outside with her for comfort. She especially has trouble going outside when it is hot. Quite possibly, she had lived her life outdoors in Texas and was not able to escape the heat, so now the outdoors and heat give her pause, but her nice and cool doggie pool definitely makes that better and a lot more fun for her. Stormy is learning how to play with toys and is getting better at playing catch outside. She loves to explore and do her zoomies! She is a great listener and knows basic commands (sit, stay, come, no). She is also fully housebroken. She is still learning manners, but she is the happiest and most loving girl! She enjoys her calming chews, and she is great at taking her medication. She can be out in the house by herself as she is not destructive at all (unless she has access to food or trash).Although she had a rough past, she is the sweetest and happiest girl (especially when she wakes up in the morning)! She deserves to be soooo spoiled! If you are that special person that is willing to put in the time and patience, you will get so much more in return from Stormy!========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Pensacola, FloridaDOB: 01/05/2018 (Estimate)Hi! My name is Luna Blu. Isn’t that the prettiest name you’ve ever heard? It just rolls right off the tongue. Luuuuna Bluuuuu. If you don’t read another single sentence here, I want you to leave knowing two things about me: 1) I have a Master’s Degree in snuggling. 2.) I have my Doctorate in cuddling. I. Am. A. Genius. And I really hope you want a big, blue, soft ball of velvety fur following you around, because that is what you will get with me. Velcro to the max. Plan on me going where you go. Being affectionate and invading your privacy aren’t my only skills, though. I know some basic obedience and am a very fast learner. I ask to go out to go potty, and I sleep well in my crate at night. One little tip: I do love being with my people A LOT and so I get nervous when I’m home by myself. My mouth gets all weirded out and I start “tasting” things I have no business tasting. Everyone is much happier when I go in my crate if I am home by myself. My foster mom says I'm a "dream" in the car. I love to ride shotgun and am excellent at navigating. I love squeaky toys, plushies, and playing fetch. My foster mom says I’m obsessed with stuffies. I like to carry at least one in my mouth at all times. We may need to call the Guinness Book of World Records because my record is holding 4 at one time, not including the tennis ball that I picked up along the way. It is truly an impressive feat. I am a sweet girl to my humans and love kiddos, even the smallest ones, but I do struggle with seeing and/or meeting other dogs whether I am inside looking out the window or out on a walk on my leash. A home off the beaten path where dogs wouldn’t be walking by would be ideal. Sort of like if I can’t see them, then I don’t know they are there and then I’m a happy camper. And within my own home, I am super-duper friendly with large dogs once we meet properly but I don’t think I would like being in a home with multiple dogs. That is just too overwhelming. And no cats or other small pets. Something that I’m kinda proud of is that I can adapt quickly to changing environments and I can match my own energy level to the situation around me. You want to play? Me, too! You aren’t feeling good and need to rest? Got it. We can simply lay together until you are feeling better. If you’ve read this far then I feel like I’ve kept your interest. And that’s a great first step! But we need to see if we are a good fit TOGETHER. So the ball is in your court now. I’m ready to find my forever home. Are you ready for me?========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Piedmont, OklahomaDOB: 04/26/2019 (Estimate)Ella is a stunning black Great Dane with a regal presence and a heart full of love. This beautiful girl loves to be the Queen of the Castle and is a classic Velcro Dane, becoming deeply attached to her person. If you’ve ever known someone with real fears such as glossophobia (fear of speaking in public), enochlophobia (fear of crowds), or latrophobia (extreme fear of doctors or medical tests), maybe you’ll better understand Ella as she has real sensitivities. She reacts strongly to high-energy situations, even if they’re just on TV. If she goes to the vet, she needs sedation because she has a strong fear in this situation. She needs someone who understands this and is willing to help her and love her regardless of her fears. Her protective nature and strong attachment make her an excellent companion for someone looking for a devoted and loyal friend.Disposition: Ella is a dominant girl who likes to be in charge. She can be protective over her people and has a lot of energy. Her reactions to people running or aggressive behavior, even on TV shows, can be intense. It’s not unusual to see her jumping up, barking, and pacing if something high-energy is on the TV. Despite her protective instincts, once she’s done running around, she’s all about cuddles and affection.Interactions with Other Pets:• Dogs: Ella needs very slow introductions to other dogs, especially those who are submissive. She’s not ideal for a home with small dogs, as she can be overpowering and aggressive towards them. She also resource guards her food, so feeding her separately is necessary, although she’s okay with humans moving or touching her food while she eats.• Cats: She’s done well with the cats in her foster home and generally isn’t interested in them.Interactions with People: Ella needs slow introductions with new people. It takes her a bit to trust, but once she does, she’s an absolute lovebug. She’s very affectionate, loves giving kisses and hugs, and frequently lays her head in an arm or a lap. However, she will occasionally growl if another dog gets too close when she’s receiving affection. Her foster is working with her on this behavior.Energy Level and Play: Ella is very active and loves stuffed toys with squeakers, strong chew bones, and treats. She enjoys digging in the yard if given the chance, even if her family might prefer she didn’t.Training and Behavior:• Leash Training: Ella does okay on a leash but could use some work.• Crate Training: She is crate trained and knows some basic obedience.• Car Rides: Ella rides great in the car and loves going on adventures.• Watchdog: She’s an excellent watchdog and will let you know if she hears a car in the driveway, especially if it’s UPS or FedEx—she’s not particularly fond of them.Ideal Home: Ella would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention without any small dogs. She would do best with a single person or a couple who can provide her with the love and structure she needs. A home with no children is ideal due to her protective and dominant nature. She needs someone patient and understanding to help her feel secure and loved.Summary: Ella is a gem of a Great Dane with a big heart. She’s loving, protective, and full of personality. With her beautiful black coat and soulful eyes, she’s ready to be someone’s devoted companion. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and playful friend who will be your constant shadow, Ella is the perfect match. She’s a queen in search of her forever castle-one where they are accepting of fear and anxiety and willing to help her shine like the star she is!========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
