Story
Chance is one special boy! This baby is one of the most amazing pups we have been blessed to love and care for. He is very bonded to Layla, they are inseparable and spend every waking hour together playing and cuddling. He gets along with all other pups. He does not try to chase the cats but he looks at them with interest. He is kid friendly and loves any human that approaches him. He has a very special place in our hearts and he has been a best friend to our son. If you’re looking for a family pup that will be a loyal friend to your kiddos for life he is your guy. Chance is young, energetic, always happy and loves going for a walk. He is trained to sit, crate trained, house trained and just really enjoys lounging around the house all day. Chance occasionally gets the zoomies but it is the cutest thing ever and tells us its time for outside playtime. He has to sleep with an extra blanket to suck on, it is his comfort. His journey started out being abandoned at a hotel in Yorktown, Texas. He was taken in by a local lady who was not well and had over 20 pets on the property and inside the condemned trailer house. We were slowly working on placement for them because the lady was not well and the conditions was not healthy for any of them. We had been asking if we could take chance and rehome him along with others tied to trees on the property with no water, food or shelter. We continued to be told no, but came everyday to feed, water and care for them. One day we received a call that he was severely injured and they needed our help with medical care. We legally can not assist without a surrender form being signed, so we requested that and they brought him in with the chain still wrapped around his neck and his body tore open and apart. It was the most heartbreaking thing I had seen. He looked so defeated and it hit deep. He was immediately taken back for surgery and had to get a chest tube placed to prevent infection. Chance recovered at the clinic a few days before going to his foster home. He was there a few weeks doing great, thriving, healing and just the happiest boy ever when he took a turn for the worst, He was rough housing with the other pups and his incision opened up. He was rushed in again for another surgery and chest tubes placed again. Seeing that setback in him, the pain and defeat in his eyes, I knew he needed to come home with me to recover once he was released. Chance got to come home with us days later and fully recovered within 4-6 weeks. Please ask us about sponsored adoptions, we have several individuals that help cover part of the adoption fee to an approved applicant only and we have discounts for bonded pair adoptions.CALL OR TEXT 3618944967

Story
Miss Layla is such a sweet girl that has the silliest personality, loves to lounge around the house all day and play with her foster siblings. She is friendly with people, kiddos and dogs but shows some excitement with the kitty cats. She gives kisses and will bath other dogs in them as well, it is quite entertaining. Her and Chance are buddies and hang around each other mot days having a great time. We believe she would do good in a home with another dog because she does so well with the rescues here. She takes a little bit to warm up too but once she does, she blossoms into a little social butterfly. She makes the silliest expressions with her floppy ears and little tongue hanging out. She likes to go on walks but is not a fan of the outdoors. She is crate trained for emergencies and at night because she is in a foster home but out during the day and does so well on the furniture. She does snore occasionally and whimpers in her sleep but this girl has got a heart the size of Texas once you give her a chance to show herself to you. She deserves a loving family and we would consider waiving her adoption fee to an approved applicant who would want to adopt her and Chance because they are so bonded. They would definitely thrive together more and a huge secure backyard to run and have fun as they do here when we have outdoor play time. Chance is listed under us as well if you would like to check out his bio. Layla was a stray found in Victoria, Texas. She takes time to warm up in new environments being that she was abandoned and out on the streets 3-6 months that we can confirm. A very sweet elderly couple fed her and provided medical care she needed. We offered to help with Layla while they went out of town and the husband had surgery but once we brought her into our place we could not let her go back to being outside, especially knowing she is on treatment for being strong Heartworm positive. It causes her to be extremely exhausted and she gets overly excited often making her drool and pant. We keep her daily outdoor walks to a minimum, especially during the highest temperatures of the day that causes her to get overly exerted and breathes heavily. So pee pad training indoors has been a success for Layla when we can’t take her outside for her own safety and comfort. All her heartworm treatment/testing is covered until she tests negative. Strong Heartworm Positive ———————————————————————— It means that a dog has been found to be infested with Dirofilaria immitis, the organism that causes heartworm disease in dogs. This is a large worm with a six-to-seven-month life cycle that ultimately ends up living in the heart and pulmonary vessels. In general, with proper treatment and care, the survival rate for dogs with heartworm disease is estimated to be around 70-90%. However, some dogs may have permanent damage to the heart and lungs even after successful treatment. Treatment entails injections, and oftentimes hospitalization is required. Recovery can take up to a couple of months. “Treatment is expensive because it requires multiple visits to the veterinarian, bloodwork, x-rays, hospitalization and a series of injections,” according to the FDA. Recovery can take up to six months, and there are often lasting effects on the animal's heart. Heartworm preventatives, like Simparica Trio, Trifexis, Tri-Heart Plus, Interceptor Plus, and Iverhart Max for dogs, come in tablets or chewable and in topical treatments, which usually provide protection and are administered monthly. Heartworm disease is a potentially deadly condition caused by parasites that are transmitted via mosquito bites in dogs that can be prevented with prices ranging for dogs at $5-$25+ per month and the cost of treating a dog already diagnosed with heartworm at $400-$1,000+ It so very important to limit outdoor exposure and activities especially in the peak times of year when we have the highest risk of mosquitoes ? Layla will definitely need to be an indoor girl and will do best with a brother or sister to play with. She will take time to decompress because she has trust issues from her past. Decompression has to be taken serious with any furbaby and that can take anywhere from 3 days to 6 months+ but with you patience and understanding heart she comes around rather quickly. We initially started her out in a quiet room with a very large crate on day one to three with several trips outside and in our home with a lead on her harness setup so she could become familiar with everyone, the sounds and our movements to be able to communicate with her that we are not going to harm her and establish a good tone with her that showed we care. Day four we moved the crate into the center of our home so she could see the movement in and around her was a safe and rather fun environment to be in. Just days later she was out running with our other fosters and our personal furbabies. They don’t just trust you right away because you have a comfortable home, treats and toys. They trust you because you take the time for them, to make things convenient, comfortable and consistent for them, so they can fill that whole in their heart that someone put there when they gave up on her. She is so deserving of a good home and we will see her through to that someday when the Lord sends the angels meant for Miss Layla. We won’t give up on you girl . We know and see how blessed we are to have the opportunity to nurture her back to the fullest she can be. God is so good CALL OR TEXT 3618944967

Story
She needs a home that has patience and understands that she needs the room to go when she gets the zoomies and plenty of playtime to burn off her occasional bouts of hyperactive energy and anxiousness. She takes time to warm up to because of her abusive history, so it caused her to have trust issues with new people and different environments. She does not like you to be near her face or in her personal space. She does occasionally take prescription medication for anxiousness when she is feeling overwhelmed. She always needs a slow introduction with people. She discovered toys today, which seemed foreign to her, and now is embracing stuffed animals and her favorite soccer balls. She knows to go into her kennel when prompted with or without treats. Her fur is so puppy soft, and she loves cuddles on the couch. Given the previous bite case, she probably needs an adult/pet only home. Although she does well with other doggies, especially large breeds, high energy because it helps her with her anxiety. Fudge is Spayed, Microchipped, Up to date on all vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, dewormed, and heartworm negative. You can also request videos, additional pictures and information on this baby girl. If you think this is your spunky little girl, please submit an adoption application and we will be in touch. We will need to bring her to your residence to be sure she is a good fit with your family. Fudge was quarantined March 2023 for a bite case at no fault of her own and was then sent to a kill shelter with a death sentence and we could not leave her there to die! Fudge will require a bite release form signed upon her adoption. You may personally request any reports on the original case to be emailed at anytime.
