Story
Meet WINSTON! He is a friend to all, gentle soul, energetic little fella, who just wants to find his furever family. He was brought to us after being found living on the streets of a rural OK town, literally starving to death. He had not learned any puppy manners before he came to us, but with consistency and loving work, he has blossomed into who he is today. He is food motivated, meaning he will do anything for a treat. He’s learned cue words; “No” for correction, and “Yes” for positive reinforcement. He’s learned to “wait” at the door before being allowed to leave the kennel or house. He knows how to “sit” everytime, and he’s been working on “down” to go from sitting, to the ground, but that takes coercion of a treat. He knows treats in a hand means you look at me/pay attention to me, which helps work on distraction for dogs.  He loves to cuddle and be around his humans or foster bros (dogs). He will go after a ball as many times as you will throw it! Which usually means we do that for 15-20 mins a day for his exercise. He would enjoy long walks daily, and does leash walking well. He may even be a great jogging buddy with the right family and some consistent work to show him your expectations. Once he knows them, he will do it. 😊 WINSTON wants to please his person. He looks at you with the most loving eyes. He loves belly rubs!! He’s a sweet sweet boy, who just wants “his very own pack” to feel safe and cared for. Someone with a big back yard to play ball in, and a more active family would be ideal. He won’t run away when he knows where he lives and who he belongs with. He is good with cats and kids, and loves other dogs. So a home with another dog would be great too, both big or small dogs are good for him. He loves them all.

Story
Meet Lisa Louise! She is a 7 pound Chi- Terrier mix around 4 or 5 years old. She is shy and timid at first, but once acclimated she loves to cuddle covered in cozy blankets. She doesn't mind other dogs but can get a bit bossy around them - typical Chihuahua😄. She is very loyal who is gentle and quiet. She has a funny side to her as well. Because she likes her quiet space, she would prefer home without smaller children. She is house trained, enjoys going for long walks, and doesn't even need a crate as she behaves just like a lady when left alone. In a new home she will need some extra time as she is very stressed about new surroundings and people. With love and patience, she will make a fantastic companion. If would like to meet this sweetheart please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/ Lisa Louise is located in Huntsville, Alabama, with possible transport to your area. Friends of Rescue requires a home visit and vet reference prior to all adoptions. All Friends of Rescue animals are indoor family members.

Story
Hi, my name is Dozer! I came in when my owner could no longer care for me. I am a little nervous at first but I warm up quickly. I really love being around my people and seem ok with other dogs. If you have another dog it would be best if we could do a meet and greet at the shelter. I am young and needs some basic manners and training to become the best boy ever.
