Wesley is a 10-month-old puppy who came incredibly close to losing his life at the shelter when a rescue tag was dropped at the very last minute. We stepped in immediately because death was simply not an acceptable outcome for this sweet boy. Wesley is an incredibly friendly, affectionate puppy who seems to think everyone he meets should be his new best friend. Shelter volunteers describe him as a total love bug who wants nothing more than to be with people, and apparently he would be perfectly happy spending his days in your lap. He also appears to do well with other dogs. Like many dogs who have spent time as strays, Wesley is still learning about the leash. He is very uncomfortable when the leash is first introduced and may back away or thrash when he feels tension on it. Once outside in the runs, however, he was happy, wiggly, and playful. He will need someone who understands that this is something he needs to learn, not a reason to give up on him. Wesley is currently in Houston, TX, and we are looking for a foster or adopter who can give this big ol’ baby the patience, structure, and love he needs to become the wonderful dog we know he can be.
