Story
Meet Ghost. He is currently shaved due to him being outdoors and being matted, but typically this handsome boy has a beautiful longhair black coat which will grow back in. Ghost does do best in an fully outdoor home or mostly outdoor home. He prefers to be outside and if he isn't outside, he will urinate outside the litter box. He is used to living outside and does great outdoors. He is a friendly and social cat.  Because we just want to find Ghost a good outdoor home rather than have to say goodbye to him due to his behavioral concerns, his adoption fee is sponsored and is $0. He is neutered, current on vaccines, and is negative on fecal parasites. He is a senior cat and in the past few years we did complete bloodwork panels on him and they were normal. As far as we can tell, he is a healthy boy and we hope he can find a peaceful home to live out the rest of his years.  The $0 adoption fee (  payable by cash or check only  ) includes: spay/neuter; vaccinations; senior bloodwork, microchip; fecal testing w/ giardia, flea prevention, and FIV/FeLV testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Cats for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application.  Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption. Story
Meet Raven! Raven is a 10-month-old kitten who's looking for the next chapter in her story! She appears social but is slightly cautious of new people and places. She may need a few days to adjust to her new space as these new areas can be overstimulating for her. She enjoys people's attention but isn't fully confident receiving it, so she's learning how to interact with people. She's a speedy girl and does best with head pets during the first few days until she gets comfortable. Raven would do best in a home with older, respectful kids. She has no history of living with other animals.

Story
Smokey is a beautiful long haired 14 year old girl (born 4/14/2010). She is a polydactyl with extra toes and big paws. Smokey likes to be brushed and needs to be brushed daily to keep her long hair in great condition. She is a generally quiet cat. She may take longer to open up but when she does, it is absolutely lovely in her previous mom’s words. She likes to keep more to herself and doesn’t prefer to sit directly on laps but she will lay on the bed or couch with you and enjoys gentle head kisses and petting. Smokey really enjoys her cat tower and particularly likes the hidey-holes in it when she needs her alone time. She enjoys playing with a long cat wand and she loves nibbling on cat grass. She will let you pick her up if needed but she isn't a fan. In her original home, a fun thing about her is that she liked to look at herself on a blank TV screen and stare at her shadow. Smokey is a healthy gal and many supplies will be provided to her new family. Don’t be afraid of her age. Senior cats are some of the absolute best companions because they know you are giving them a chance to enjoy their retirement. Please ask about this beautiful gal today!

Story
Ned is a very friendly 10 year old boy (born approximately 6/15/2014). He is looking for a new home because his senior human dad is moving into an assisted living facility and Ned isn’t able to follow him there. He has lived in a home peacefully with other cats and would likely do fine with a proper introduction to another cat in a new home. He would be okay with a non-reactive dog as well but we don’t know how he would be with children since he has only lived with adults. Ned is a beautiful long haired cat and fortunately he enjoys being brushed because his new family will need to keep up with regular grooming for him. He has usually received a lion cut grooming annually to help keep his coat in great condition as well. Brushing will allow you to have great bonding time with this sweet boy. Ned loves to look into your eyes and you can have a great conversation with him. He enjoys being petted and likes having his chin rubbed. He can be pretty chatty particularly when he is hoping to have some dinner and doesn’t feel like he’s getting all the attention he should have. He will need a sturdy scratching post that he uses faithfully and he won’t mess with furniture as long as he has that available. With his current senior dad who sleeps in a recliner at night, Ned will happily sleep with him on his lap when he is able to share the space with the other resident cats. It seems like he will easily be coaxed into being a regular lap sitter even during the day and not just at night because he enjoys people. He may hide from strangers initially but once he knows he is safe, he will appreciate the attention. In his previous home, he was able to have brief outings outside but an adopter will have to commit to keeping him inside only in his new home. It will be important to have a way to make sure that he isn’t able to sneak out as he learns that the indoor life only is the best solution for him. Ned likes to knead and he will appreciate a wand toy that he can occasionally bat at. Meal time is a favorite thing (like it is for many cats and humans too) and he likes to be petted when he is eating. Ask us about adding this handsome boy to your home today!
