Story
I have had Twilight since she was only a few weeks old. She turned 9 years old this summer. She was a stray when we took her in and was the runt of her litter. She lived alone for the first 3 years and did great, but when we got another cat it was hard for her to adjust. She struggles a lot with anxiety and does not do well around other cats or dogs. She is not aggressive or hostile in any nature (she runs and hides), but will act out by not using the litter box. She has been a wonderful cat since the day I got her, but does not do well with our other two cats and new puppy. With consistent change being a part of our lives now, I want to find her a good home where someone can give her the life she deserves. I think she would do very well in a home without other cats/dogs and with consistent routines. I've had birds, turtles, and hermit crabs in the past which never seemed to be a problem, so it is just cats/dogs she can't be around. She is declawed in her front two paws and fixed.

Story
Please contact Kim (artrules2020@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Wyatt and his brothers were abandoned by their mother and discovered by a friendly German shepherd! His umbilical cord was tangled around his right rear leg and consequently cut off the circulation to his foot. His missing foot has proven to be no handicap for wrestling, climbing and running. He has been bottle fed in his foster home since he was only hours old. Wyatt is a roly poly fluff ball who has a perpetually dirty nose. He is curious, snuggly and playful. Wyatt is destined to be a remarkably beautiful cat and a devoted companion.August 19, 2024, 8:32 am

Story
Beauty from Ashes too!Meet Carmen (approx. 2 yrs old) and Easter (approx. 1 year old) SEE Separate listing for EasterThese two girls had a sad start to life. They came to our rescue from a Mobile Home that had beenabandoned and locked for close to a month with a number of cats inside. This was an uglyhoarding/abusive situation that was none of their doing. Both of these girls are hand-shy. Carmen is the more out-going of the two and has started toapproach us, on her own terms. Easter is still very scared and shy and hides most of the time. Itwould be wonderful if they could be adopted together, but they can also find separate homes. They started off scared of everything. They now sit next to their foster parent’s legs on the couchand sometimes sleep next to them in bed. They are skittish and hard to approach. It is better to holdstill and let them approach you. But they are coming around.  They have been exposed to children, other dogs and cats but would recommend none of those or very slow introduction. These girls would be a great cat for someone who understands that it might take six months beforethey start to warm up much. It could be a year or two before they bloom. But they will be SUPERLOYAL once they feel safe. They do not have any negative behaviors. They use their cat box verywell. Eat, sleep, drink, snuggle with each other. They just need the right person and a very gentleapproach to feel safe and secure.August 19, 2024, 8:32 am

Story
Introducing Zaya (born 2023). Despite the heartbreaking loss of her own kittens, she found solace and purpose caring for a litter of the kittens orphaned in the April tornadoes that hit Nebraska and Iowa. With unwavering dedication and a gentle touch, she nurtures her newfound family, fiercely protective of their well-being. Zaya was found as a stray, so we don't know much about her personality yet, but her tender nature shines through as she lavishes her adopted kittens with affection. Please Note: Zaya is a nursing mom of the Twister Litter of kittens. Due to this she cannot move to her forever home until her kittens are fully weened and are around eight weeks of age. We encourage you to apply to adoopt Zaya so that we can process your application while we wait for her to be ready! The suggested adoption donation for Zaya is $65, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than six months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger, than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2042603##

Story
Here comes Pebblez, a friendly LongHair cat who is ready for her second chance (b. July 2022)! Pebblez is friendly with everyone - dogs, cats, strangers and kids of all ages.  She enjoys being active and playing with her toys.  If you're lucky, she might cuddle up beside you when she gets to know you.  Pebblez is a little particular with her food and will enjoy having her own personal space for dining.  She is litter trained and looking for a house where she'll get lots of love!   The suggested adoption donation for Pebblez is $65, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
