Cane is a sweet, gentle cat who came to our rescue from a high-kill shelter in 2020, along with another kitty named Bane (adopted). At first, Cane was very fearful of people and would keep to himself or hide whenever visitors were around. But with time, he’s gradually learned to trust and has built up enough confidence to venture out from our Shy Cat area to mingle with visitors, albeit from a safe distance. It’s very clear from Cane’s body language that he’s right on the cusp of taking that next step and maybe allowing a gentle pet or two. Cane would love nothing more than to find a quiet, supportive home with understanding caretakers who are willing to let him bloom on his own terms and pace. We aren’t sure how he’d do around dogs, but he gets along fine with the other cats at the Goathouse and would likely not mind sharing a home with another easy-going, non-dominant cat. Approx. Chucky is a brown tabby kitty was found wandering all by himself. A concerned neighbor found him and brought him to the Refuge. Chucky is a really good boy who likes to play with the feather-teaser or wiggle-worm (he tries to steal them & run off, so you gotta hold on tight!). He also plays with Anna (the orange & white tabby girl with one eye) and is like her gentle big brother when she gets spicy with him! He's starting to trust the volunteers a little more now and will sniff a hand when it's gently held close to him. We know he wants to interact more but he's just a little nervous, so he needs time and patience in a quiet, loving home and he will shine! Prissy was found wandering lost and astray and brought to the Goathouse by a concerned neighbor. Prissy is still learning to trust and can be shy around new people, but we know that with time she's sure to blossom into a sweet and easy-going cat. Katty (aka Fluffy Tail) is a beautiful, ear-tipped tabby with a gorgeous, flowing tail. She arrived at Goathouse Refuge on April 14th and is looking for her forever home. She was a friendly stray that made great process in trusting the humans that took to feeding her. She also made friends with all the neighborhood cats and could even been seen taking an interest in the possums and raccoons at night, so she would do well in a home with other animals. She is a sweetheart that enjoys neck scratches and playing with balls and stuffed toys. She is still shy and would need time to warm up, trust and learn to be a lap cat, but she was well on her way to becoming a loving house cat. Marbles came to the Goathouse Refuge as a surrender, along with his mom Precious and littermates Reece, Marley, Reagan, and Riley. Marbles is a beautiful orange kitty with medium length fur; his right eye was removed due to a bad infection, but this doesn’t bother him in the least as he’s completely at ease navigating around the Goathouse. Marbles would prefer a home without small kids or dogs, but he does get along well with other cats. In particular, we’ve often caught him sharing friendly head-bumps with Grayson, Goldie, and Mandy, and he’d be thrilled to find a home with one of these buddies. he can be a littles shy so you may have to seek him out when you visit, but just ask a volunteer to assist with an introduction. We promise Marbles is well worth the patience! DOB: 08/08/2021

Life hasn't been easy for our lovely, shy Blanca, who was basically abandoned at the refuge by a woman who threatened to dump Blanca and several other cats by the roadside if Goathouse would not take them. One look at that beautiful, frightened little face and we just could not think of turning Blanca away! Blanca is still adjusting to life at the refuge, and while she still shies away from people initially, she seems more afraid than anything, and who can blame her, after all she's been through? Blanca would love to find a calm, quiet home, ideally with a caretaker who is well-versed in reading cat body language and nonverbal cues and committed to working with Blanca on socialization, taking things 100% at Blanca's pace.
