I’m a cute, lovable seven-year-old black and white kitty boy called Carson. My people named me Bruce, but since being returned to the shelter, I’ve been called by my original name, Carson. I was an affectionate, energetic kitten. In my home, I liked my alone time, but I enjoyed receiving affection and petting. I really bonded with the disabled adult son in the home. I may have understood him, I guess. See, I’m different from many kitties. I have pica. Some kitties get it (people too). It means that we eat things we shouldn’t. In my case, I chew on cloth – blankets, soft toys, and things like that. It can be very dangerous, as I found out the hard way. I get lots of TLC from staff and volunteers here at the shelter! I am always up for playing with them, or on my own. I love playing with water under the faucet! I can play with plastic balls and all sorts of toys that I can’t chew or swallow, and I can be comfortable in a space without blankets. “Petey! What’s up, Pup?” I’m Petey, a 3 ½ year-old black and white male who came to Paws and Claws when I was a kitten. I’m named for the dog on the “Little Rascals”. I was one of a group of felines who came to Paws and Claws from a home that had too many cats in October 2021 when we were all 6 months old. I was adopted four months later in February 2022. Now I’ve been returned three years later due to behavior issues that have cropped up in the past month. I had a good vet checkup when I returned to the shelter and have had no problems since I`ve been back, so it’s not clear to people here what was causing my problems. I love toys and I am affectionate. I cuddled and slept with my person. I was fine with the passive, mellow dog in my home. I was eating Purina Cat Chow Complete. Two years ago, when I was a small kitten, I was found with my mama and my two brothers near a driveway in SW Rochester one night. A woman arrived home, took us in, warmed us up, and fed us. When no one in the neighborhood claimed us, she took us to Paws and Claws. We were all named for members of her family. I’m Chris, a grey tabby boy who was adopted in February 2023, but now I’m back at the shelter. Why? You’ve heard the phrase, “fighting like cats and dogs”? I didn’t fight with the two dogs in my home, but they made me nervous. I had litter box issues, and my owner felt that it was due to having to share my home with dogs. I did okay with the cat in my home. I am a calm cat, but I did not do well around dogs. I can be affectionate; I occasionally like to sit on laps and snuggle at bedtime. I liked sleeping with my people, and I do well with children. I’ve been eating Purina Cat Chow. Ah, March madness! They call it that for a reason. There’s the weather, of course. In like a lion…and basketball. And St. Paddy’s Day. I just found out that my name, Sheridan, is Irish. An Irish cat? How about that! I’m a nearly 2-year-old black cat who was adopted from Paws and Claws in 2023. Now I’m back because my family has a new baby who is allergic to me. The Irish have a saying: “If you’re Irish, it doesn’t matter where you go – you’ll find family.” There you have it! Irish or not, I’m looking for a new family! I’m very loving and cuddly, and I liked sleeping with my people. I love to play and run around. I liked living with children, but I am shy around dogs. You purr-obably know by now that the shelter is awash with cats and kittens, and so are the foster homes. I’m Tosh, a white girl with a grey tabby tail and grey tabby ears. My four kittens and I went to a foster home as part of a TNR program. After spending some time there, we went to another foster home, where our time was spent mostly on the enclosed front porch. I loved lying on the window sill while our foster mom was sitting in a chair. She’d pet me, and I’d purr like crazy. I have a LOUD purr! I was very friendly, but I wasn’t a “pick-me-up” girl. These felines were living in pretty bad conditions with no reliable source of food or water. They are doing quite well here at MCHS, but they are people shy. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Greta came to us from Brownsdale, MN where she was found at a abandoned farm with 2 kittens, Victoria and Teeny.  She also took in 2 kittens whose mother could not nurse, Lena and Pongo.  Greta was a very good mom who was protective of all of her babies.  As an individual, she is a shy girl who warms up slowly to new faces.  She does not allow any of the volunteers to pick her up.  She is however, comfortable walking around MCHS, patrolling and keeping on top of all the action.    An easy-going, low key and patient home would be best for this girl, where she would not be expected to be a "lap cat". Kale is very chill. He likes to cuddle while making biscuits on soft fabrics.

Apple is a bit dog-like and follows you around to help out. He's very sweet, cuddly and likes to sit on your lap.

Pumpkin is chill and relaxed, he likes to nap by your side and get pets. He prefers to play with toys with a person, rather than on his own.
