Story
Bandit von Brandis is a delightful, 8-9 month-old German/Dutch Shepherd mix (best guess). The best way to describe Bandit is “the life of the party.” He always attracts a crowd wherever he goes with his good looks and social demeanor and thrives when he’s around his humans or furry friends. There are so many sides to Bandit, too, and we love them all. He can go from being the goofiest pup in playgroups to being a studious learner as he grasps new leash manners or other commands, like “stay.” He’s happiest when he’s in his playgroup, running around with his friends, he'd be a great play buddy for another active dog (but no kitties please). Bandit lost his prior home due to a move, they described a happy boy and said he's housebroken. We can’t recommend Bandit enough, especially to an active person or family. Come meet him today and make him part of your upcoming adventures. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Bandit von Brandis YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Blitzen is a 2-year-old, 60-pound curious and affectionate boy looking for his furever home! Blitzen was hit by a car in November 2022, resulting in a broken right leg. He’s healed up well according to the vets, but still walks with a limp and would do best with short walks and hikes. Thankfully, his leg doesn’t seem to slow him down when it comes to playing with other dogs, one of his favorite pastimes! Blitzen currently lives in foster with another dog and is FULL of love and happy puppy energy. He is eager to please and responds well to structure and consistency from his humans. He’s already crate and potty trained and is working on his leash skills. Blitzen has been through a lot and is ready for a permanent loving home. To learn more about Blitzen or to set up a meet and greet, please email his current foster: chris.bachman@calstatela.edu

Story
Meet Zeus⚡ * Toward People: Can be a little shy at first. However, once he warms up to people and the environment, he becomes kind and gentle even if someone lifts or touches him unexpectedly. Appreciates human warmth and prefers to lie against or be touched by people. * Toward Dogs: Is getting along well with other doggy friends at Adogs Center! Sometimes acts a little aggressively leading to possible fights when he gets to roused up during play with other dogs. Needs to be carefully watched when he plays with other dogs. * Separation Anxiety: It is unknown due to Zeus living at the Center with other dogs. * Potty Training: Uses outdoor potty at the Center. * Hygiene: Enjoys being brushed but is scared of having his nails trimmed. There should be frequent walks to allow the toenail to be trimmed naturally. * Walks: Slightly scared of a leash and needs to take time in wearing a leash. However, once outside, he does not pull it and walks well in whatever direction a walker pleases. Fears the sounds of cars and motorcycle by the street. * Car sick: Has no carsickness. Has no trouble getting up and down the car! 💌Special Note💌 * Is very gentle and will not bite his caretaker in any situation. * As he occasionally gets into confrontations with other dogs, it would be best if he were the only dog. * Because all the dogs poop in the same area at the Center, Zeus has a habit scatophagy. Any excrement should be cleaned right away. (Scatophagy can be remedied quickly with a training at home.) * Missing his left ear due to a birth defect, but Zeus has no problem with hearing!

Story
**He is currently in Seattle** Mukgoo is about 5 years old. He was found near an army base in Korea and immigrated to America around the age of 1 on President’s Day of 2020. He is an incredibly smart and lovable dog. He is kind and loves people (loves dogs and people). He will eat almost anything (except veggies). He can be a jumper when he gets very excited. He prefers households with another dog and a big yard to run around in but it’s not a non-negotiable. He has always adjusted well to whatever the circumstance. Overall, he’s a good dog and he’s got a lot of love to give. I’m having to give him up due to being unable to raise him in my current life stage. In no way, this is due to any bad behaviors or anything. He’s a really kind-hearted and sweet dog. Likes - He loves playing fetch (quickest way to his heart), rolling in the grass, puppycinos, ice cream, snow, people, dogs - Historically has liked lamb, fish skin, salmon, bully sticks, dental sticks, sweet potato, etc. In general, he loves to eat~ - Very social and prefers to greet other dogs and people, including dog parks, doggy day cares Dislikes - He dislikes bath but who does - He doesn’t like being alone but can manage a few hours if needed - No longer is a fan of veggies - Fireworks and big noises Things to Watch out for - Throwing up: If you let him freely eat grass, he’ll throw up. When he feels stressed, he can react by throwing up. - He can be independent when he is fixated on things. Just be patient with him and he will come back to focus on you. He is a people pleaser. - He rarely barks. He may bark when other dogs bark but even that is rare. He is more of a whiner. If he needs to let you know something, he will whine. - Not a counter surfer but can be if you let him Commands He knows his basic commands (sit, down, hand, etc.) and is open to learning new ones as well. Potty He is used to peeing and pooing outside. Once you create a regular spot and time for him, it’s clockwork. Otherwise, just be aware when he whines that it may be time to go. - At a high level, he knows “go potty” and “go poo” as a sign to go to the bathroom - He will rarely go pee or poo inside the home. Once in a million tries, a thing like that can happen during the night but he’s really sorry when he does. Leash He has never been fully off-leash, only in areas that condone it (home, backyard, dog park, etc.). He is not one to go off-leash and run away. He’ll run around and try to have you play with him. Keep him on a short leash if you need to focus on walking as he can veer away due to his interest in sniffing. Once on a short leash, he’ll understand and walk along. However, give him time to sniff as he is very curious with smells. Sleep He can sleep together or on his own if you’re in a different room or floor. He is also loves to cuddle up as well. When there’s fireworks, it’s recommended you sleep where he sees you because he’s afraid of the loud sounds. Food He is on one meal a day. If you give him two meals a day, he may not eat the first meal. Snacks though he loves. He knows how to sit and wait for food. He is currently on Costco’s salmon and sweet potato meal.
