**** Breed Experience or similar breed experience will only be considered***Name: HannahBreed: Dutch Shepherd MixAge: Under 2 years oldKids: 12+ Cats: NoDogs: NoHold onto your hearts, Hannah is hard not to fall in love with!! This beautiful girl came to MHS as a transfer from a local animal control partner. Hannah is estimated to be a little over a year old and has an equal amount of boundless energy as she has love to give!Hannah will require a home with Shepherd/Belgian Malinois, or similar breed experience. Hannah is extremely smart and loyal to her people, this girl knows all the basic commands, and then some! Hannah has a ton of energy so will require an active home that will give her a job to do to prevent boredom, and a home preferably with a fenced in yard so she can get all her energy out.Hannah does have a tendency to jump very high when she's excited and wants to say hello, so we are seeking a home with older, breed savvy children. Hannah would prefer a home without any other animals.Hannah is microchipped, UTD on her vaccinations, and is spayed. If you think you can give Hannah her forever home, please fill out an adoption application today!!!https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

Kali is a very very interesting name... I was named after a Hindu goddess, like Mother Nature?? WOW, I need to cash in on this amazing name, right?? Nah, I hope that my name, which is kind of cute- GETS ME A HOME!! I mean, have you seen me? I am a brindly, gray/fawn GODDESS of love and soft fur :) I was tied to the fence at the rescue, with my friend Zeus Boy (he has been adopted already) one early Sunday morning. We were immediately taken in by the rescue, it was a very sad letter left with us on the fence.... we were very loved but our family had to move in with a parent and the parent's dogs were fighting us and hurting us :( So they did the best they could to find us a safe place to find great homes..... now I am the ONLY ONE LEFT to find that AMAZING HOME@!! I am a beautiful shepherd girl, my soft fur is so brindly and colorful you will gaze at me for hours :D I am a young gal, had heartworms and was already treated for it, so I am just ready to be YOURS :) ADOPT ME, must love and know Shepherds- I am a wonderful example of the breed. You will have the BEST friend for life!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Meet Zara!  Breed Guess: Dutch Shepherd/Pomeranian MixAge: Young Adult...best guess is 2-3 years oldWeight: A very compact 23lbs  Other Animals: Zara wants to play with her fur foster but he isn't interested in playing with her and she respects his boundries.  She does give him kisses which he accepts from her.  We feel that she would probably do well with a doggy companion.  We were told that she was not reactive with cats and she doesn't try to chase squirrels or geese.Kids: She is very nervous when meeting strangers right now so we feel that calm teens would be bestHouse training: She is totally fine but may need a little time to learn a new routine in a new homeExercise needs: Zara is a low to medum energy pup. She LOVES going on walks and is good on leash. What she's great at: When she earns your trust, she is a great cuddler.  She is house broken and happy to be in her crate. What she's working on: Trusting new people.  Coming from a hoarding situation she didn't have exposure to much so she is learning that there is a big beautiful world out there.Personality: Zara is a sweet little girl.  She warmed up to her foster family very quickly but she is nervous when meeting new people.  She would prefer to come to you in her time frame.  She was recently at an event and in a relatively short amount of time, she was started making friends with people as long as they ignored her and allowed her to approach them.  Zara's Story: She was found in a hoarding situation in Grand Cayman. She lived with a foster family there for a short time until they were able to get her to us.  Dream Home: She would love a quiet home with a patient family that will give her time to come out of her shell.  We feel that another dog would help her feel more comfortable but also feel that she may be fine on her own.  Zara would love someone that will take her on walks and maybe eventually a hike!  She also loves to cuddle on her foster dad's lap so seems to be the best of all worlds! ##2009612##

Story
June is the smallest of her siblings who were found on the side of the road in the heat. She is a sweetheart and loves to be petted. She and her siblings play great and love water! She is sweet with children and has the cutest manner in that she sits down without a cue in front of you as if she is saying, “look how cute I am!”. She will make a great family pet. She is crate trained and will patiently wait for a treat. Highly trainable! June Carter Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PHOENIX was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Phoenix is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $150. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. FLISS was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Fliss is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight.
