Story
Our Dutch Shepherd Zara is still waiting for her forever home. She is such a sweet girl but is super stressed out here at the shelter. Despite the stress and anxiety she is feeling, she is still such a loving girl! She is not too fond of toys but really enjoys being brushed and held like a baby! She walks well on leash and takes treats gently. She is dog selective but shows well with certain male dogs. She needs an owner that has Shepherd experience and is willing to keep her busy being a working breed. An ideal home would be an adult only home and NO cats! August 18, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
**He is currently in Seattle** Mukgoo is about 5 years old. He was found near an army base in Korea and immigrated to America around the age of 1 on President’s Day of 2020. He is an incredibly smart and lovable dog. He is kind and loves people (loves dogs and people). He will eat almost anything (except veggies). He can be a jumper when he gets very excited. He prefers households with another dog and a big yard to run around in but it’s not a non-negotiable. He has always adjusted well to whatever the circumstance. Overall, he’s a good dog and he’s got a lot of love to give. I’m having to give him up due to being unable to raise him in my current life stage. In no way, this is due to any bad behaviors or anything. He’s a really kind-hearted and sweet dog. Likes - He loves playing fetch (quickest way to his heart), rolling in the grass, puppycinos, ice cream, snow, people, dogs - Historically has liked lamb, fish skin, salmon, bully sticks, dental sticks, sweet potato, etc. In general, he loves to eat~ - Very social and prefers to greet other dogs and people, including dog parks, doggy day cares Dislikes - He dislikes bath but who does - He doesn’t like being alone but can manage a few hours if needed - No longer is a fan of veggies - Fireworks and big noises Things to Watch out for - Throwing up: If you let him freely eat grass, he’ll throw up. When he feels stressed, he can react by throwing up. - He can be independent when he is fixated on things. Just be patient with him and he will come back to focus on you. He is a people pleaser. - He rarely barks. He may bark when other dogs bark but even that is rare. He is more of a whiner. If he needs to let you know something, he will whine. - Not a counter surfer but can be if you let him Commands He knows his basic commands (sit, down, hand, etc.) and is open to learning new ones as well. Potty He is used to peeing and pooing outside. Once you create a regular spot and time for him, it’s clockwork. Otherwise, just be aware when he whines that it may be time to go. - At a high level, he knows “go potty” and “go poo” as a sign to go to the bathroom - He will rarely go pee or poo inside the home. Once in a million tries, a thing like that can happen during the night but he’s really sorry when he does. Leash He has never been fully off-leash, only in areas that condone it (home, backyard, dog park, etc.). He is not one to go off-leash and run away. He’ll run around and try to have you play with him. Keep him on a short leash if you need to focus on walking as he can veer away due to his interest in sniffing. Once on a short leash, he’ll understand and walk along. However, give him time to sniff as he is very curious with smells. Sleep He can sleep together or on his own if you’re in a different room or floor. He is also loves to cuddle up as well. When there’s fireworks, it’s recommended you sleep where he sees you because he’s afraid of the loud sounds. Food He is on one meal a day. If you give him two meals a day, he may not eat the first meal. Snacks though he loves. He knows how to sit and wait for food. He is currently on Costco’s salmon and sweet potato meal.

Story
Meet Pete! Dutch Shepherd/Black Labrador Retriever/terrier mix, only 2 years old, 60 lbs, and filled with joyous energy! Pete enjoys playing with toys and exploring the backyard. He would do best as an only pet in a low-traffic adult home, as he can get overstimulated with too much going on. Pete would be perfect for an individual or couple who enjoys home life with their new best friend! To apply, go to lendapawinc.com/adoption

Story
June is the smallest of her siblings who were found on the side of the road in the heat. She is a sweetheart and loves to be petted. She and her siblings play great and love water! She is sweet with children and has the cutest manner in that she sits down without a cue in front of you as if she is saying, “look how cute I am!”. She will make a great family pet. She is crate trained and will patiently wait for a treat. Highly trainable! June Carter Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Zara!  Breed Guess: Dutch Shepherd/Pomeranian MixAge: Young Adult...best guess is 2-3 years oldWeight: A very compact 23lbs  Other Animals: Zara wants to play with her fur foster but he isn't interested in playing with her and she respects his boundries.  She does give him kisses which he accepts from her.  We feel that she would probably do well with a doggy companion.  We were told that she was not reactive with cats and she doesn't try to chase squirrels or geese.Kids: She is very nervous when meeting strangers right now so we feel that calm teens would be bestHouse training: She is totally fine but may need a little time to learn a new routine in a new homeExercise needs: Zara is a low to medum energy pup. She LOVES going on walks and is good on leash. What she's great at: When she earns your trust, she is a great cuddler.  She is house broken and happy to be in her crate. What she's working on: Trusting new people.  Coming from a hoarding situation she didn't have exposure to much so she is learning that there is a big beautiful world out there.Personality: Zara is a sweet little girl.  She warmed up to her foster family very quickly but she is nervous when meeting new people.  She would prefer to come to you in her time frame.  She was recently at an event and in a relatively short amount of time, she was started making friends with people as long as they ignored her and allowed her to approach them.  Zara's Story: She was found in a hoarding situation in Grand Cayman. She lived with a foster family there for a short time until they were able to get her to us.  Dream Home: She would love a quiet home with a patient family that will give her time to come out of her shell.  We feel that another dog would help her feel more comfortable but also feel that she may be fine on her own.  Zara would love someone that will take her on walks and maybe eventually a hike!  She also loves to cuddle on her foster dad's lap so seems to be the best of all worlds! ##2009612##

Story
STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com.
