Meet Hezqa, an adult Dutch Shepherd with a heart full of love. Her energy is contagious, and her playful antics are sure to keep you entertained. She's the perfect blend of sweet and goofy, always ready to make you smile. Hezqa's smart and curious nature means she's quick to learn new tricks and loves exploring her surroundings. But at the end of the day, she's a cuddle bug who loves nothing more than snuggling up with her favorite human. With Hezqa, every day is an adventure filled with laughter and love. Her adoption will not only change her life but yours as well. The love, companionship, and joy she brings are truly priceless. Hezqa is waiting to shower her forever family with unconditional love and loyalty. Hezqa is a 2 - 3 yr old female Dutch Shepherd. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! Hezqa is food motivated and knows the command sit. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is not a fan of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Meet Amina! She is a beautiful Dutch Shepherd, around 1-3 years old and 50 pounds. We aren't sure what she's been through, but she spent a week jumping fences and hiding in the backyards of a neighborhood before she came to the City of Raytown Animal Services. She is very loving, walks well on a leash, and is dog friendly. The Pet Connection can help with suggestions on how to help as well. Amina will need at least a six-foot fence and must be walked on a leash until you're sure she cannot jump that fence. She will do best in a home with someone experienced with this breed of dog and who will allow her the time she will need to decompress. She is not doing well in the kennel and needs to find a foster or adopter soon. In the quiet moments in boarding, she will snuggle up in your lap, press her head against your chest, and take a deep breath as she enjoys the reassurance. She's scared, but so loving.
