Summer was rescued in 2021. She was starved, tied up and left during a heatwave. She has been waiting nearly 4 years for her forever home. She is a female Dutch Shepherd Mix, approximately 6 years old. She loves to chew on her toys but is non-destructive in her room. She is very intelligent and knows her sit, paw and speak commands! Story
STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. Stryker gets very excited when meeting new dogs. Stryker has a girlfriend - Van. They love to run around and play hard. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs, however, he has the potential to live with other active dogs. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com. Story
**He is currently in Seattle** Mukgoo is about 5 years old. He was found near an army base in Korea and immigrated to America around the age of 1 on President’s Day of 2020. He is an incredibly smart and lovable dog. He is kind and loves people (loves dogs and people). He will eat almost anything (except veggies). He can be a jumper when he gets very excited. He prefers households with another dog and a big yard to run around in but it’s not a non-negotiable. He has always adjusted well to whatever the circumstance. Overall, he’s a good dog and he’s got a lot of love to give. I’m having to give him up due to being unable to raise him in my current life stage. In no way, this is due to any bad behaviors or anything. He’s a really kind-hearted and sweet dog. Likes - He loves playing fetch (quickest way to his heart), rolling in the grass, puppycinos, ice cream, snow, people, dogs - Historically has liked lamb, fish skin, salmon, bully sticks, dental sticks, sweet potato, etc. In general, he loves to eat~ - Very social and prefers to greet other dogs and people, including dog parks, doggy day cares Dislikes - He dislikes bath but who does - He doesn’t like being alone but can manage a few hours if needed - No longer is a fan of veggies - Fireworks and big noises Things to Watch out for - Throwing up: If you let him freely eat grass, he’ll throw up. When he feels stressed, he can react by throwing up. - He can be independent when he is fixated on things. Just be patient with him and he will come back to focus on you. He is a people pleaser. - He rarely barks. He may bark when other dogs bark but even that is rare. He is more of a whiner. If he needs to let you know something, he will whine. - Not a counter surfer but can be if you let him Commands He knows his basic commands (sit, down, hand, etc.) and is open to learning new ones as well. Potty He is used to peeing and pooing outside. Once you create a regular spot and time for him, it’s clockwork. Otherwise, just be aware when he whines that it may be time to go. - At a high level, he knows “go potty” and “go poo” as a sign to go to the bathroom - He will rarely go pee or poo inside the home. Once in a million tries, a thing like that can happen during the night but he’s really sorry when he does. Leash He has never been fully off-leash, only in areas that condone it (home, backyard, dog park, etc.). He is not one to go off-leash and run away. He’ll run around and try to have you play with him. Keep him on a short leash if you need to focus on walking as he can veer away due to his interest in sniffing. Once on a short leash, he’ll understand and walk along. However, give him time to sniff as he is very curious with smells. Sleep He can sleep together or on his own if you’re in a different room or floor. He is also loves to cuddle up as well. When there’s fireworks, it’s recommended you sleep where he sees you because he’s afraid of the loud sounds. Food He is on one meal a day. If you give him two meals a day, he may not eat the first meal. Snacks though he loves. He knows how to sit and wait for food. He is currently on Costco’s salmon and sweet potato meal.

Story
Callie is the last one of her litter available for adoption! This sweet girl was born on New Years Day 2024 and weighs approximately 45 lbs. She is mostly full grown at this age/size. Callie was born in a home where her parents currently still live. Mom is a boxer mix and dad is a yellow/white lab mix, both parents weigh around 50 lbs. Callie and her siblings were denied by multiple rescues when the owner reached out to them. They were about to be sent to animal control, where more likely they would be euthanized as owner surrenders, when she reached out to us, and we couldn’t turn her away. She is so calm, and so gentle. Her siblings all would pick on her, knowing she was the submissive one of the litter. Callie has met kitties and she is more afraid of them, then they are of her. Callie LOVES other dogs, but they must be gentle and nice to her. She is still a very submissive girl. She’s not timid, but she is just so gentle and quiet. You would never know she walked up to you without looking down at her. She quietly follows her humans around, just wanting to be next to them. Callie has grown up with children almost her whole young life. She would be an amazing addition to a family with children who understand she is a very calm girl and overly hyper children would not fit well. She is mostly house trained, and she is crate trained. Callie was the observer of the litter. She would watch everything before engaging in what they were all doing. She is not overly active, and a more low key to medium active home would be ideal for her. She enjoys her walks, but more enjoys hanging out around the house. Callie is spayed, heart worm negative, current on rabies vaccine, bordatella, parvo/distemper, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer and microchipped. A certificate of health will be issued by a veterinarian prior to transport from Texas. To apply to adopt: www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Owen is a very gentle 43 lb boy. Owen has not had any easy life. He was found back in December of 2023, abandoned in a baseball field in Houston with 2 other dogs. Somebody had locked all 3 dogs in the park, with no access to food, water or shelter for days. Animal control didn’t have room for them, and no rescues wanted to help the 3 dogs. A good Samaritan took all 3 dogs under her wing and put them in boarding, thinking she would find help for them, and never did. She reached out to us for help with the remaining 2 (1 she was able to rehome). The options now for the remaining 2 are to be surrendered to animal control, where it is more likely they will be euthanized. Bindi and Owen are the remaining 2 of 3. Owen is 1.5 years old and a bit shy at first when you meet him. He is not sure which humans he can trust and which ones he cannot, as in his earlier life, humans were not so kind to him. When he learns to trust you, he is all smiles and love. He has the absolute best smile. Owen is crate trained, despite the fact that he would much rather just be out with his human. Nothing gets past Owen. He is a VERY smart boy. He catches on quickly to everything around him. He is very observant and curious. He would do great with other dogs or on his own. Another dog would help him gain the confidence he needs, but with the right human, he would be fine on his own. We recommend only older children or no children with Owen, as a more patient and not super active home would be best for him. Owen LOVES going on walks and adventures. He would be a great adventure buddy. He also rides great in the car with no issues. The ideal home for Owen would be one that understands he has not had the easiest life, but he has so much love to give. Owen is calm, gentle, loving, sweet, super intelligent and just all around a wonderful boy. Owen is neutered, heart worm negative, current on rabies vaccine, bordatella, parvo/distemper vaccine, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, and microchipped. He will be issued a certificate of health before transport from Texas. To apply to adopt Owen: www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
How this amazing boy hasn’t been adopted yet is beyond us. This sweet boy is 2 years old and weighs approximately 50 lbs. Bullwinkle is a very inquisitive dog that loves to explore and go on adventures with his humans. He just wants to see everything he can and know what’s out in the big world around him. He absolutely loves going on hikes. When he was found, he was severely underweight. When he made it to the foster, he was still underweight. We believe he was on the street for quite a bit of time because once he had access to regular groceries, he gained weight and is now a very healthy size. He definitely loves his meals and treats. Bullwinkle was caught counter surfing twice at his foster home in the beginning (in the almost 7 months he has been there, so not bad!) – he really enjoyed the fried fish he got though. He has been in the same house with three female large dogs and two cats. He loves his female foster dog siblings and gets along great with all 3. He does think when cats run, he’s meant to chase them, not that he wants to be mean, he just wants to play with them. Either a home with cats that can get to higher ground, or a no cat home would be best for Bullwinkle. He has been eating Diamond Natural Skin & Coat formula dry dog food and Wholehearted Lamb & Rice wet food which he does wonderful on. He absolutely loves car rides. LOVES IT!!!! If he gets into the garage, then he is just convinced he is going for a ride. It’s gotten to the point the foster takes all the dogs for a quick car ride on Saturday mornings. Bullwinkle is very loyal to his humans and will alert you to someone who shouldn’t be there. He has been sleeping in the same bed with the foster and two of the other dogs. He is definitely a cuddler. He is house trained but prefers not to be crated as he would rather be free in the house, which he has no issues with. He loves peanut butter. If you ever must give him pills, this is the way to go. Bullwinkle is very smart, extremely loyal and desperately needs his best friend in his life. He will be your protector, your companion, and your shadow. He would make a wonderful dog for the perfect home. Bullwinkle is neutered, heart worm negative, current on rabies vaccine, bordatella vaccine, parvo/distemper vaccine, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, and microchipped. Prior to transport out of Texas (where he is located), he will be issued a certificate of health from a veterinarian giving him a clean bill of health. Bullwinkle is located in Texas and available for transport once adopted. We have transports that leave Texas every 1-3 weeks. We go over options with an approved adopter. To apply to adopt Bullwinkle: www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org
