Story
Meet Chick! 🐾 Chick is a 5-month-old, 24 pound (as of 3/17) Dutch Shepherd/Heeler mix who is still learning to navigate the world with confidence. While she can be shy, she is slowly beginning to show glimpses of her playful, goofy puppy side. With patience and a gentle approach, Chick has the potential to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. She’s a quiet, independent pup who enjoys having her own space and often tucks herself under furniture with a toy to shred. While she is still warming up to cuddles, she has shown curiosity and moments of affection—once coming up for pets before retreating to her safe spot. Chick does well with dogs and cats, though she can be a bit unsure about playtime and sometimes prefers to observe rather than jump in. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and travels well, making her an easygoing companion for the right home. She may take some time to adjust to new people and environments, but once she trusts you, she will show you her sweet and silly side. Chick would do best in a patient, low-pressure home where she can build confidence at her own pace. If you're looking for a gentle, independent pup who needs a little extra love to shine, Chick might just be the one for you! Story
April is an energetic, focused, and loyal dog who loves to play frisbee and tug. She is good on the leash, but likes to take the lead. She likes to play in the yard, but has a tendency to police other dogs outside as well, so she does best playing outside with you alone. She is great with cats! She is a velcro dog and will follow you around the house and outside and likes to be involved. She is an observer and spends a lot of time watching those around her from a distance. She is ok with strangers outside the house, but needs a lot of assimilation with a stranger coming into the house, but she eventually comes around. She is generally food motivated. Would likely do well with scent training since she has a great nose and is able to signal to what it is she wants or is looking for, but also has a potential for bite work. She love love loves to hike!

Story
STRYKER - Young, Fun, and Energetic Yes, you will be thunderstruck with this amazingly athletic and fun dog. He is going to keep you entertained for hours and then just chill out at night, you will fall in love with Stryker. This handsome, playful and friendly Dutch Shepherd dog can’t wait to meet you and become best buddies. He loves to play and run around outside, getting a full head of steam playing fetch and stretching his legs. When inside, Stryker can play or learn to chill by your side while you do some work from home. Like any shepherd, this guy is smart and active. Get those tennis balls and tug toys out because he loves playing fetch or goofing off with just about any toy. Stryker is incredibly agile and fast. He enjoys brisk walks and being with people. If properly introduced Stryker can make friends with dogs his size. Stryker can sometimes be a little possessive of his ball when playing with other dogs. He can also be over excited when seeing new dogs or small animals on walks or hikes and not a fan of small animals. He was gentle and easy going when walking with our special girl Phoenix. Stryker is about 3 years old and close to 70 pounds. He is healthy with no underlying medical issues. As you can see from his pictures he is quite photogenic, but even pictures don’t do him full justice. You have to meet him to truly experience his joyous nature. Stryker has all the physical, intelligence, and active characteristics of a full Dutch Shepherd. Stryker will be best served in a home with a fenced in yard. Any adopter will also need to be ready and able to keep up with Stryker’s energy level. If you are interested in finding out more about Stryker, please email us at contact@sedonashepherd.com. Stryker is also a candidate for our foster to adopt program, which allows a potential adopter the opportunity to foster Stryker for 3 weeks prior to committing to an adoption. We are requiring any potential adopter sign up for obedience training with Stryker. If you live in northern, central or western New Jersey, Canine Dimensions has graciously offered to provide up to 3 in home sessions at no cost. Preference will be given to owners with a fenced in yard. Based on his activity level, we are also looking for a home with older children. If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com.
