You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOUG ~3 years old. Good with dogs and kids over 16. Not good with cats. Fenced yard required. Residents of NC and SC Click to apply for Doug Please Note: This link will take you to Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue.                Meet Doug, a three year old Dutch shepherd with an incredible personality. He has typical Dutch shepherd energy and requires exercise and walks each day. He is very well trained and enjoys working. But don't let his playful nature fool you, because he also knows how to relax and enjoy quality time with his humans. This handsome boy has a special talent for falling asleep on the kitchen floor or snuggling up on the couch next to you while giving gentle rubs.  Doug loves people, dogs, and kids. Because of his exuberant and playful nature, he would do best with kids over 16 years of age.  A family or owner who is experienced  with Dutch or German Shepherd dogs is mandatory.  Doug could be happy as an only dog, but would also love a companion dog to play with. It is an absolute MUST  that his home has a secure fenced in yard. Being a herding breed, Doug does have a high prey drive, so he would do best in a home without cats. His love for toys is unmatched, especially his beloved ‘Egg’ that he carries around everywhere. In typical Dutch fashion, he will happily engage in playtime with you for hours on end. Doug does require daily exercise to work off his high energy. He enjoy walks and exploring new places and also enjoys riding in the car. If you're searching for a loyal and affectionate companion, Doug may be the dog for you. He is eagerly waiting for someone who can provide him with the love and care he deserves.  Again, Doug is a Dutch shepherd and will require an experienced handler. Doug is not a good first time pet.  Not for apartment living or homes without a backyard. Doug is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on monthly heartworm preventative, highly obedience trained and crate trained.  If you are interested in adopting Doug or have any questions, you can contact Donna at BMSR1313@gmail.com. Click to apply for DougVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.For more information on our adoptable pet list please visit: Adoptable Pet List Please join us at our next Event(s): Current Scheduled Events:         August 19, 2024, 7:37 pm

Story
This bright-eyed, perky-eared pup is Coco and he is really hoping his new person comes to get him this week. Coco is not quite 1-1/2 years old and was given up by his owner for landlord issues. That`s a real shame and hard to understand. Coco is smart, knows some basic commands, is housetrained, likes other dogs and cats (but will chase them), and is used to living indoors. He is playful and energetic, and will do best in a home with a fenced yard and people who will keep him active, both mentally and physically. In return, Coco will reward you with devotion, loyalty, and oodles and oodles of unconditional love! He`s accepting visitors at BAS, so come meet him soon.

Story
Hello! We are trying to re-home my parents' dog, Lucky. He is a mix and a really sweet and intelligent boy. He's a go-getter who loves problem solving and completing tasks. He’s your classic dog in that he loves playing fetch, playing chase, and just being around you. He is neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. We are so sad to see him go but think another home will be able to care for him better.

These pups are in Greensboro, North Carolina too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ENZO ~2 years old. Good with some dogs, but best as an only dog . Not good with kids or cats.  GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.        Enzo is patiently waiting for the perfect family to find him. He’s a tall stunning boy who LOVES going for a ride in the car, seriously – this guy cannot walk past a car without letting you know he wants to get in. Enzo is currently a lean 85lbs and needs a family committed to keeping him at a healthy weight. Enzo didn’t inherit the best genes, likely due to a backyard breeder whose only interest was making money. Due to this, Enzo will need hip surgery within the next 1-2 years. The rescue will cover the cost of surgery at one of their vets, so his adopter doesn’t have to worry about that, but they will need to care for him during the recovery period. Enzo would do best as an only dog, he loves attention and going for a walk. He is low to medium energy, has no problems with stairs. He is still somewhat mouthy and will not be placed in a home with children younger than teenagers. Enzo is house trained and doesn’t need to be crated. After a walk, his favorite past time is lounging on the couch. He’s friendly but not overly pushy looking for affection. Enzo is a goofy boy that just puts a smile on your face being around him. We understand that his upcoming health needs will deter some adopters, but we are hopeful someone will give this boy a chance, he deserves his own forever family. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.STEVE ~3 years old. TBD if good with dogs, kids and cats. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.   This sweet boy is overflowing with so much love and enthusiasm for people. His motto is if life gives you lemons, let's make lemonade and friends! If you ever felt down, he would definitely lift your spirits. He has a great head tilt so you know that he is listening to you. This boy loves hard though, so it’s better that there were no small kids in the house but it’s only because he would bowl them over and smother them with kisses before you could get him off them! He would be ok with older considerate kids. Steve loves going for walks and exploring new things. He is up for any adventures you want to take him on. He does great riding in the car and is well behaved when riding. Steve has visited several big box stores and really enjoyed perusing the aisles and meeting new people. He is very polite meeting and greeting when we are in public. Steve is very excited to meet doggie friends. He is a bit socially awkward and is still learning how to read the cues when the other dogs have had enough. He is definitely improving in this department. We are working on how to "play it cool" when meeting other dogs. He is a work in progress and just needs someone to help show him the way. Just look at his videos! He does well on the leash but will need someone who will continue working with him on training. He is very food motivated so that is always a bonus. Steve was picked up as a stray. He was half starved and weigh about 35 lbs. He had also been hit by a car and the shelter took him to the vet. Steve was at the shelter for a while and they did a wonderful job helping him gain weight and getting use to being handled. Steve would love a family that is ready to be showered with love because he has plenty to give. He would love a fenced yard so he could run and play. He would love a playful companion that could help him learn the ropes. Steve has also discovered squeaky balls and absolutely loves them! He does kill the squeaker in the ball so you may need to set up a ball fund. Steve will carry one ball in his mouth while chasing another and has managed to carry 2 balls at a time. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.AVA ~8 years old.  Good with older considerate children.  Not good with dogs or cats. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only Hi! My name is Ava (known as Gilda prior to coming into GSRA). My foster mommy keeps telling me I'm a beauty so I'm rolling with that! I am a middle-aged long haired Sheppie. I'm so chill, that even my mom is surprised! Like, super chill! I was returned to the rescue 5 years after being adopted from the rescue, due to no fault of my own. Realize I'm looking for the ideal home, so don't take this as being biased BUT I have to tell you, I am a PERFECT companion dog. I LOVE to go out on walks, a minimum of two a day. Once the weather cools off, I wouldn't complain if my new mommy/daddy snuck in a 3rd walk! I do FABULOUS on the leash. I love to check out my surroundings, sniff and just trot along (my last mommy told this mommy that I wasn't taken out on walks very often). If you see another dog on leash coming in our vicinity, I do like to bark & pull slightly. HOWEVER, when my mommy corrects me, I respond really well. After my walks, I like to relax outside with my mom while she brushes me. She says I need to be brushed every day cause I'm hairy! Hmmmm, what else about me? You could say I'm a people pleaser! I want to make my mommy happy. I do great in the house when left alone (no crates, please! I don't need or want one). My mommy leaves me with peanut butter in my kong when she heads out the door, which is so nice & yummy! I also like tennis balls; you might think I have golden retriever in me cause I just hang out with the ball in the mouth! I listen well, know basic commands & I like to be in the same room as my mom; I'm not quite a velcro dog (as I do respect your space) but I do like to be nearby so I can keep an eye on you. I do great on car rides. I was basically an inside dog prior and would love to get more experiences going out on more car rides, taking trips, going on hikes. Do you think you would like to be my new mommy or daddy? Come check me out and let's see if we are a mutually good fit! UPDATE! I've now been with my foster mom for a bit. She says I've bonded quickly to her; I'm not sure what this means. She did want me to talk about my 'dog aggression' which is how I've been categorized. That is, up until now! The general consensus is that I have not been properly socialized with other dogs. Now, understand this. I DO need to be the only pet; I have a prey drive for smaller animals. And while I'm working towards being social with other dogs, I don't want to share a home and mommy/daddy with them. If you want to be my new parent, please promise me that you will allow a trainer to work with me regarding my manners with other dogs. This will alleviate my stress when I see other dogs as well as make me the perfect dog on leash! Ok. I'm ready to meet my potential new folks! Ready. Set. Go!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.For more information on our adoptable pet list please visit: Adoptable Pet List Please join us at our next Event(s): Current Scheduled Events:         August 19, 2024, 7:37 pm
