Story
I was left in front of an abandoned store to fend for myself. My luck changed, however, when some kind humans got me to safety. I am a young and active guy. I would love a doggie friend or even a jogger to take me out. I do know a few commands, am in excellent health, and can't wait to find my forever family. I have not met cats yet.

Story
Molly is a laid back, sweet shepherd mix looking for her forever home. She demonstrates most shepherd traits, and bonds most often to the female of the home. She adores children and is very affectionate with them, but can be nervous initially with some men and new situations. (She will hide/avoid until comfortable) She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they do not try to be dominant around her, but would be perfectly happy in a only dog home as well. She is not super playful with other dogs (does occasionally play with some, usually 2-5 year old males) but is well socialized. Because of her size and herding tendencies on fence boundaries, we do not recommend she live with small dogs. She walks beautifully on leash, and is obedient. She does have some slight separation anxiety and will be vocal in a new home until she settles into routine, but once settled she is calm, quiet and crates without issue. She is non destructive in the house and prefers simply to be near her person/people.

Sweet, smart, and super friendly – Dk is the total package! He’s got the manners of a gentleman. He’s a great leash walker and already knows how to sit and shake on command. He seems to know to be calm and gentle around people. When it’s time, he has no problem letting his silly flag fly! He enjoys rough housing with toys, and has yet to find a toy he doesn’t like. He’ll play with any and all of them!

Story
Rose lives in Houston, Texas and was rescued from a homeless man who had been neglecting and abusing her. She was left tied-up and unattended outside when a devastating derecho storm hit Houston in Mid-May 2024. We convinced the man to surrender her to us so she could have a chance at a better life - he finally agreed. Rose was in skinny, dirty and afraid - but began to improve in just a few days. We were getting her healthy enough to have her spayed, when out of nowhere she had 2 puppies on June 17th! Imagine the surprise! She didn't even look pregnant, that's how thin she was. We had to wait for the puppies to grow and wean themselves off Rose so we could refocus on finding Rose her forever home. Rose was spayed on August 13, 2024. She received a microchip, DHPP shots, rabies vaccine and dewormed. She's house and crate trained, she loves spending long periods of time outside in the sunshine. Rose is a very sweet and loving girl and shows no signs of trauma despite her rough start.

Story
Est DOB: 1/8/22, GSD mix, male, currently 75 lbs +, neutered, up-to-date on all his vaccinations, heart-worm negative and microchipped Meet Haribo!  (Hari for short) This incredibly handsome boy was born into the rescue on Jan. 8, 2022.   He is a happy, goofy boy with a lot of personality.  Haribo and his sister Honor were both born with a congenital issue called Megaesophogus.  Basically his esophagus is too large to move food adequately from his mouth to his stomach so he just eats differently that others.     When it’s feeding time, Hari sits in a special chair called a Bailey chair.  Haribo is a clever boy who knows how to get into his chair for feeding times all on his own.   He does very well eating and sitting in the chair for 20 minutes afterwards.   He eats twice a day and has been eating Royal Canin.   Like his sister Honor,  his Megaesophogus is easily managed with an inexpensive drug called Sildenafil.  He gets 50 mg a day. (25 mg in the a.m. and p.m.)   Haribo is great on a leash, loves to play with his sister and likes to play fetch.  He loves getting attention and will nuzzle your hands to get a nice petting.  He likes walks around the lakes in his foster family’s neighborhood and is interested in the ducks and squirrels but doesn’t try to chase.  He is in a foster home with other dogs and school aged children that he does well with. Haribo is in a foster home with other dogs and school aged children that he does well with.  Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at :  https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1   $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates. If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes. August 8, 2024, 5:50 pm

Story
Est DOB: 1/8/22, GSD mix, female, currently 75 lbs +, spayed, up-to-date on all her vaccinations, heart-worm negative and she is microchipped.   Meet Honor! Honor is a gorgeous girl who was born into the rescue on Jan. 8, 2022.  She has always been a happy, playful pup.  A few months after being born Honor was diagnosed with Megaesophogus, a condition that affects the way food moves from her mouth to her stomach.   Honor is just like any other dog except that she requires a special chair to sit in to eat.  She has her own Bailey chair that she is trained to get in and out of it on her own that would go with her to her new family.  She is a very smart girl and she does very well in her chair when she eats and stays for 20 minutes afterwards.    Honor eats twice a day and has been eating Royal Canin.   Honor’s Megaesophogus is easily managed with an inexpensive drug called Sildenafil.  She gets 50 mg. a day. (25 mg in the a.m. and p.m.)     Honor loves to play with her brother Haribo, who was also born with Megaesophogus.   She enjoys walks and taking little dips in her foster family’s pool.  Honor is affectionate, sweet and silly and likes to chase leaves and toss pine cones into the air.  She is smart and very attentive and would be an amazing addition to any family.   Honor is spayed, up-to-date on all her vaccinations, heart-worm negative and she is microchipped.   Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. Story
***FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED*** Est dob: 5/2/23,  neutered, chipped, UTD on vaccination, expected to be a large adult  Caviar is sweet, curious, friendly, and energetic. He is crated overnight and has access to the open door crate during the day. He is comfortable with his German Shepherd foster sibling and they have been actively engaging in play and zooming around the yard. He does bark occasionally, either when someone comes to the door or also at his shadow in the windows. He loves to cuddle on the couch and human beds. He responds to his name, sit, come, down. He loves pats, treats, chasing squirrels, being outdoors. He is still a puppy so he’s learning what’s ok to chew and what isn’t. He is gentle when taking treats and very generous with his kisses. Caviar is in a foster home with other dogs that he does well with. We are looking for a home where there are no children under 5 due to size and energy level. He previously lived in a foster home with older children and did well with them.  Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family.
